Guest guest
Okay, I must be weird here. I never could wipe my butt " the correct way " by reaching around/behind my butt after my original fusion (T4- L4) as a teen in 1989. Since that fusion, I always reached thru my legs to wipe my butt, being careful to wipe away from the vaginal area. But in the few weeks since my surgeries to fuse me to the pelvis, I can suddenly reach my butt from behind again! Without twisting or any weird lunge-type actions. So I must be strange....? > > > > > > > > , > > > > How much blood did you lose in your surgery? Guest guest
- it must be that gorgeous lumbar lordosis making it possible!! (although that theory falls apart with me because since I was fused to sacrum in 1983, I've been able to get the job done even though I have flatback) Kathy W.rebeccamaas <rebeccamaas@...> wrote: Okay, I must be weird here. Guest guest
We do speak freely about important stuff don't we? Good thing!. With this gadget I had (I actually threw it away a couple weeks before my shoulder surgery and then regretted it. See why I'm a pack rat?), I had to relearn reaching from the front. Now, without it, I CANNOT reach, I must reach around, no choice. And that is easier when I lose the weight I'm gradually regaining. Donna Re: Thanks Donna... Guest guest
You got a script for a bidet? Is this a device that sits on your toilet? Or are you talking a full functioning bidet? And is insurance paying for this? Wow, that would be awesome. Thanks Donna... (help on wiping) Donna,Thanks for the reply....as for the latest - I have on order (thanks to my P.T. trying to figure it all out) a "Bottom Buddy" to help me wipe. It should be here by Monday or Tues. My doctor also prescribed a Badae' (sp??) I didn't even know what one was - but they explained how it sprays up water etc. So I will be getting one of those. I agree about how we shouldn't have to go through congress to find out how I am supposed to wipe myself. The best news I got was yesterday when this lady from "Total Home solutions" called me and said it was approved by my work comp. to have "home help" for me 2-4 hours a day 5 days a week. They will help me with meal prep, light housekeeping, laundry, dishes, vacuuming, clean the bathroom, wiping of me, showering, etc etc.WHAT A BLESSING!! That is really going to help me get through these first couple of months - I was worried about taking care of the kids and myself and everything that happens during the day while trying to recuperate from this big surgery. She came today and I really like her and she really helped me a lot today. I sure hope that wiping aid comes quick and works - you're right - you need to hang on to some sort of your dignity.Debbie> > >> > > ,> > > How much blood did you lose in your surgery? Guest guest
Yes, I got a script (doctors idea...because like I said I had never heard of one) I don't know what kind because insurance has to approve it and the way they have been going...it will probably be a go. They have have been pretty good to me lately. We'll see. Debbie > > > > > > > > , > > > > How much blood did you lose in your surgery? Guest guest
Debbie, Well that's cool. Let us know what they decide and what it is. I've searched them on line and they aren't too cheap, set on top of the toilet, heated (that would be worth it right there for Chicago winters!). Otherwise, the full bowl ones have to be plumbed like a new toilet - that just wouldn't make sense. I'll have to think about this. I'll wait and see how you like it. Donna Re: Thanks Donna... Guest guest
I know they had them in this medical supply catalog that they showed me at the hospital...I think this one they attached it to the toilet. I'll see and let you know... Debbie > > > > > > > > > > , > > > > > How much blood did you lose in your surgery? Guest guest
I could not reach very well before revision surgery, either. I would have to lean over to the counter and use it as leverage to twist myself enough to reach. I feel a little cheated that my butt is smaller after revision, but I can reach it without twisting now! I think it is because my spine sits above my butt instead of so far forward from it.
