High there,

Just wanted to let you know that I was back at the hospital for a check up.

Well they are sattisfied with the growth of my bone wich first did not fuse very

well. The growth has progressed and I am finaly aloud to start getting rid of my

high brace. We had a very nice conversation wich all was explaind. I never see

Proffessor Harms because he is always in surgery or abroad and luckly not Dr

Jensen but Dr Melcher one of the many back surgeons in the hospital.

The bone is still not strong enough for much movement but I am aloud to have a

litle therapie but no movement of my spine. I still feel some movement of my

lower spine wich is possible.

I am so glad that I can finaly start therapie and drive the car and cicle on my

recumbent bike. But I am still not of the hook. Just like lorren I am not

surtain the anterior surgery is still (again) in the picture. Somehow I started

leaning too far backwards after still leaning forward a bit three months post

OP.Dr Melcher is not sure of the reason why because the fused part looks in

place. He hopes and so do I that therapie will help me refind the balance. I

still have a lot of pain in the lower part wich was at first supposed to be

fused anterior. I have come to a turning point he said, this is the point that

it will go the right way or the wrong. Of course it is not nice to hear but I am

glad he was very honeset with me. He said that of course they want to hear how

good the surgery is but understand how difficult it must be for us and

understand our fear of loosing all we gain in the time to come. I suppose lots

of you reconize this. On the one hand you have to be positve but on the other

hand it is a kind of self protection to not think all will be great in a bout a

year.

I feel good compaired to a couple of months back. I am in much better shape the

before OP. I can walk without loss of controle, sit for the first time in 15

years for a short time and stand without a problem.I only use my whealchair when

I go somewhere for a couple of hours. The cruches are going up the attic.

I hope that getting rid of the brace will go well.

I need another CT and xrays in three months again to see how it is.

I will have a look and see if I can fill in some of the questions about the

doc's!

Hope you all are doing as well as you can be.

Groetjes Yolanda
