I've been an RN in hospitals over 17 years and things continually change. The cell phones have gotten more sophisticated as well as our monitors, etc. I loved it when they started to allow cell phones. It took the responsibility of screening the patients calls away from the staff & put it back on the patient & family. Really the only time I didn't like it was when one would go off just as the baby's head was popping out! Just check with the hospital you're going to.
