Guest guest Posted May 28, 2001 Report Share Posted May 28, 2001 Call for applications A short course on ‘Gender, Health and Development’ will be conducted by SAKHI, Women’s Resource Centre, Trivandrum, Kerala between August 12-27, 2001. This course has been developed in response to the need among development workers, social-science researchers in health and those working on health issues within the non-governmental and the governmental sector for a training programme that goes beyond introducing basic gender concepts, to applying these in the context of research, policies and programmes. The faculty for the course are Aleyamma Vijayan, Director, SAKHI; Lakshmi Lingam, Reader and coordinator of Centre for Health Studies, TISS, Mumbai; Nalini Nayak, Independent researcher and activist, Trivandrum; Mala Ramanathan, Associate Professor, AMCHSS, SCTIMST; Padmini Swaminathanm Professor, Madras Institute of Development Studies, Chennai; Renu Khanna, SAHAJ and Women’s Health Training, Research and Advocacy Centre, Baroda; Shagufa Kapadia, Pricipal Investigator, Women’s Health Training Research and Advocay Centre, Women’s Studies Research Centre, MS University, Baroda; and T.K.Sundari Ravindran, RUWSEC, Chengalpattu. The course will be conducted in English. A fees of Rs.11,000 is being charged towards course material and boarding and lodging. Participants will have to make their own travel arrangements. A limited number of scholarships are available and participants are requested to apply requesting for these if they will not be able to obtain support from their parent institution or any other agency. Men and women who have responsibility and/or experience in training, research or action.. Applicants must be graduates in any discipline with fluency in English, with several years of service ahead of them. Men are encouraged to apply.
