Where did you decide to have your surgery and with who?...I scanned back quickly but I didn't see, if you did post that info...if you are willing to say, that is! I am scheduled for 2/9 1st stage, 2/17 2nd stage...NEBH with Dr Rand. It is going to be a hectic few weeks coming up..working out the details and dontating blood. Good luck in 2005! Guest guest
Hi Cam, Sorry for delayed response- -much Santa work to do. Yes, it appears that we will ride the revision roller coaster almost together.I live in North Carolina, but have decided to have the surgery in TX,with Dr. LaGrone.on Feb.7th.I am leaning forward11.6 cm. I can only stand about ten minutes.I can only walk about a quarter mile. Not too much pain.Notice neck and shoulder pain coming on.Mostly fatigue, more than I should feel.It is helped greatly,by water exercise and swimming.Dr. Lagrone was very patient with my endless questions. The receptionist arranged for me to visit a lovely patient of his in the hospital that very night. She was also 65. She had the surgery one week before.Re-hab was about to start for her, right there in the hospital.I think he has a great understanding of flatback.I like that he typed out his diagnosis. I am the type, that has to know everything.-for better or worse.Just set up my bloodletting dates today. It will be taken locally at the Red Cross and shipped to Amarillo. Four units were ordered by the Dr's ast.I'm on Medicare and have AARP. Still don't know who will cover what? Sounds like you will be in good hands with Dr. Rand.Thank God for all that we learn on this site. {Thank You } Bye for now.Happy Holidays! Guest guest
Eileen, Darn, I'll miss you by a week -- I'll be in Amarillo on February 1 to see Dr. LaGrone (traveling from New York State). Wishing you all the best for your surgery, and Merry Christmas! loriann > Hi Cam, Sorry for delayed response- -much Santa work to do. Guest guest
Eileen, I will be curious to see how you do and to read what you think of Dr. LaGrone. I live in Texas but have no insurance right now so no means to even seek his opinion, much less surgery. However, I hope that within two more years I will have medical insurance (we should qualify for Champus through retired military reserves when my husband turns 60). Forgive my ignorance and failure to follow your story, but are you 65 and they still will consider surgery? I am 53, but like I said will probably have to wait a few more years. It is encouraging to know I am not waiting beyond the operative age limit. I need to try to lose weight and get myself in better shape. Though how to do that when you are already in terrible shape and hate water isn't easy! LOl I wish you well on your surgery. Txbluebelle > Hi Cam, Sorry for delayed response- -much Santa work to do. Guest guest
Txbluebelle, I am curious as to what you hate about water? I was deathly afraid of it, but when I turned 45 (and feel double that thanks to my hip and spine problems) I figured I should start to try to like it, in hopes that it would relieve any of my numerous aches and pains. I've had about six swim lessons so far, and am thinking the water helps a little, both physically and mentally. I'm hoping it will help even more if I can just become more at ease in the water. Good luck with trying to get in shape and with finding some insurance to tide you over for the next few years, loriann P.S. Eileen, I'll also be avidly reading anything you write about traveling to Texas and Dr. LaGrone as well. I am grateful to all those (Becky and ette and sorry my memory is failing me on the other names) who have given me some info. already on Amarillo hotels and taxis, etc. > > > Eileen, I will be curious to see how you do and to read what you > think of Dr. LaGrone.
