,Thank you for your questions.  I will try to answer in short, and hopefully more will be added as the list is further developed.1. How do I find a practitioner?Currently, efforts are underway to build a database of practitioners that will eventually be available on the Masgutova website.  I will be collecting data also through this list to help in that effort.  In the meantime, the best way to locate a practitioner in your area is to post your location on the Children with Challenges list to find someone near you.

2. Should I purchase the MNRI manual? There are several MNRI courses and manuals.  You can contact Brea Maday (email: rjbemaday@...).  Currently, on the website the only manual being offered without course attendance is the Integration of Dynamic and Postural Reflexes manual.  The reflexes covered in this course are the core reflexes that are worked with in home programs given in private sessions and conferences, so if you can do so, purchasing this manual would be beneficial.  Even if you are only working with a professional privately as opposed to attending a clinic or conference, purchasing this manual would make it easier to work with a therapist as you would have the instructions for any reflex homework they give you.

3. How much time per day would an average home program take? The amount of time you spend at home will vary on your situation, the amount of experience you have with the work, and the extent of the home program given to you.  When working with a therapist on a regular basis (e.g. weekly) then that therapist may only give you one reflex to concentrate on at a time.  In which case, depending on the reflex it could take as little as 5 minutes.  A home program that is given at a private session in a clinic situation might consist of more reflexes, but typically you would take 3 reflexes per week and work them three times per week (again this may vary on your therapist/evaluator who wrote your home program).  Some reflexes are very quick to do and others take a little longer and if you have a child that has a lot of energy or is extremely sensitive to touch and has trouble lying still then it can take a little longer or your goal would be less as you just work what you can.  In this case, maybe it could take you 30 minutes to an hour.  If you have an extensive program given to you as the result of attending a conference, then your program will be more extensive still.  At the Family Conferences, there is more time to provide an more in-depth evaluation and spend more time getting to know your child while working with them.  You would have been trained in several different Masgutova programs (e.g. Archetype, Neurostructural, Tactile, etc.) and you would also have reflexes in addition to these programs to repattern.  There has been earlier discussion on conference home programs on this list and a sample home program posted by Nameny.  You can check the group archives for previous postings.  However, regardless of where you receive your home program, ultimately you focus on what you can do and try your best and you can still see improvements.

4. How long does it typically take until a client completes the therapy?Reflexes are part of our primary movements and are integrated into our whole body movement systems and serve for protection, survivial, and development.  They exist within us for our entire lives so these natural programs will always be there to work with and as any individual goes through life they will face challenges or stress that can cause them to become less integrated.  So reflex integration techniques should be looked at as lifelong tools.  Svetlana has stated that even neurotypical individuals with no health challenges can benefit from reflex integration work once a year.

For individuals with greater challenges, it will depend on their case.  A reflex is not simply on or off, integrated or not integrated.  Reflexes can be improved by degrees.  Functionality can be improved in different areas as you go along in this work, so it will depend on your case and the goals the individual has for themselves or their child.

5. How is a home program typically rolled out (i.e., how many excercises at a time, over what period of time)? Each home program is dependent on the individual and as discussed in #3 above how many exercises and duration of the home program will vary according to the individual and where they received their home program from.  Also, as mentioned in #4, reflex integration techniques are lifelong tools that you would use to optimize your abilities and functions as you progress in life.

6. Are costs usually covered by insurance? The Masgutova Method is a method that educates individuals in techniques that help to integrate reflexes.  It is not considered a medical procedure and that is why conferences are called Family Educational Conferences.  However, if you work with a licensed medical professional such as a physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, or other professional who traditionally bills medical insurance, then in accordance with the provisions of your individual medical policy, these sessions may be covered.

7. How often should a child be re-assessed?

Every 6 months is not uncommon, at least in our area, but it could be more often if you have a practitioner in your area who has been trained in conducting assessments.Val-- " Hope " is the thing with feathers—
