Has anyone had a bad reaction to Aspirin while taking gleevec?

I had been doing fine w/Gleevec and my CML is no longer detectable in

my body however, after taking an aspirin I suffered a stroke (mild) but

still a stroke. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a reaction to

the aspirin? Prior to this I was fine w/no side effects.

Hi Yrulooknback,

If the stroke was of the hemorrhagic type (a bleed into the brain, rather

than a clot), then it could have been caused by the aspirin - but not if it

was caused by a clot, which aspirin can help prevent. The CT or MRI can

usually make this distinction, so you might ask your doc which sort of

stroke it was.

I'm glad it was a mild one, and hope you recover completely.
