Spinal Cord Stimulator

Kathy, your symptoms sound a lot like mine. I was scheduled for a spinal cord

stimulator last month. Thank goodness they do a trial before it is permanently

inserted. The trial lasts a week and all the wires and whatever are taped to

your back. Not allowed to get it wet and have to sponge bath for a week.

Anyway, I was all prepped, talked to the Medtronic tech as he is there when it

is inserted and programs the device and will teach you how to use it. My doc,

who is a pain doc and also anestheologist, could not find a space in my spine to

insert the needle. Evidently my spine is so tightly fused with boney growth and

scar tissue that there was no way he could insert the SCS. He said I was the

only patient he ever had where this happened, and that he was going to present

my case at a pain conference this fall.

So I went home and my back was pretty sore from all that poking around. My pain

relief options are pretty limited and am just on medication for now. Hope it

works out for you. Barb
