Hello I'm new to the group. I have a 4 yr old daughter who is seeing a private

OT for treatment. She has selective mutism (this does recede enough that she

will speak to teachers/ot if she feels safe and it returns anytime an

environment feels unsafe or is unfamiliar) developmental delay/SPD. She has

daily shut downs with flight or flight sometimes to the point she is literally

frozen and you have to pick her up to move her. Our OT has taken some Masgutova

Method courses and is currently using them with my daughter.

My question is actually about my 22 month old son. He was cross eyed and had

surgery before he was one to correct it. We were told the surgery would reset

the brain and it would begin to use the eyes together. The surgery did help a

bit but the problem still lingers. Patching did not resolve it. He has excellent

farsighted vision. When an object is about 5-6 feet away his brain closes down

one eye and uses the other.

Our Dr is is excellent and has a wonderful reputation. I do have confidence in

her but no one is an expert in all fields. Since this seems to be a brain/eye

issue I was wondering if the course Visual and Auditory Reflexes Integration

addresses anything like this? I know my daughter's OT will probably attend when

it's in our area.

He has had " typical " development in all areas. He's very verbal, social and

active. I'm not seeing any other issues at this point.
