Guest guest
I watched a tv show several years ago where a so called 'deadly' martial art was demonstrated. An exponent of this " art " managed to render a dozen or so of his attackers completely unconscious just by tapping lightly on specific points on their body such the inside of the elbow, side of neck, inside of calf etc. Paramedics were on hand to quickly revive these people, who apparently would die if left unaided. I don't remember the name of this " martial art " , but I think it was something like Dan Mach. Then again, I could be way off. I bet there are some Supertrainers out there who know which 'art' I'm referring to. Guest guest
Paladin press has a book about Dim Mak. I don't practise martial art and don't have the book so don't know if it's any good. Guest guest
, Jordan has been in Kenpo now for three months. She absolutely loves it!! Kenpo is non-combative karate. It is self defense form and the instructors are wonderful (in our studio anyway) about making sure all the kids come away winners when they play games and such. It's great because Even though Jordan is 7, for her size, she's in the Tiny Tigers Preschool class consisting of 3 to 5 year olds. most of the kids are 4 and 5 and are way bigger than she is so this works out plenty well. She really loves it and the other kids help her out a lot. It's amazing to see the compassion in these toddlers. They let her win most of the time, not because their parents or the instructors tell them to either. I think they just know for some reason and let her win. The kids are very patient with her lol! Anyway, MH/MR pays for her to go with the family driven funding. If there's an organization similar to that in your area, they might pay your child's way as well. Check into Kenpo, I think it's great. Judi
Guest guest
I do Ninjutsu and MMA. I don't know much about Aikido other than it involves a lot of joint locks and throws as opposed to punching and kicking. It's big on movement and momentum. My only first-hand experience with Aikido practitioners is that they can break your wrist and drop you on your ass pretty quickly. There's also some kind of a spiritual aspect to it, like when they break your wrist and drop you on your ass, they're rebalancing the forces of the universe or something. That's a pretty sad explanation. LOL Maybe somebody who actually does it could explain it more eloquently. > Hey , I was just wondering what martial art you are practicing, and if you know anything about Aikido.... >
Guest guest
I did some Aikido for a very short while. It focuses on using the energy of the universe, in Japanese ki or in Chinese chi (as in tai chi), as a form of self defence. There are no attacking moves involved, or at least not in the version that I did. Skwigg's description isn't too bad - there is a lot of using momentum, but in such a way where you are redirecting the energy that your assailant imparts on you in order to attack you. It is a very exhilarating sport - you do feel energised, and that's not just the adrenalin talking. I gave it up when I moved interstate, and couldn't find another club nearby. Of course, I'm biased because I kind of met my husband at an Aikido beginner's class Give it a go! > > Hey , I was just wondering what martial art you are practicing, and if you know anything about Aikido.... > > >
Guest guest
Interesting... You are the 4th woman I have met recently who said they met their future husband at an Aikido class. Maybe it has something to do with all that flowing universal energy M. > Of course, I'm biased because I kind of met my husband at an Aikido > beginner's class > > Give it a go! Guest guest
....or potentially all of that rolling around on the floor! I'll have to let my single girlfriends know that my experience was not a one-off thing! > > > Of course, I'm biased because I kind of met my husband at an Aikido > > beginner's class > > > > Give it a go! >

Guest guest
Aw... Well the U of O offers it and I'm starting to get more interested in Martial Arts so I was thinking it might be fun.. I'm a total beginner and I know nothing about any martial art and I think I eventually want to get into MMA, but this might be a cool way to start and just kind of learn some basics Re: Martial Arts I did some Aikido for a very short while.
