Guest guest
So, Irish, you are a Carol, too? I'm a Carole. I agree wholeheartedly with you and Sharon re the guys climbing Mt. Washington. I don't know where their brains are! I won't know if they did it until Thursday (or unless I read it in the papers). My town set the record last night for the coldest in eastern MA! Fifteen below! I also like your heating pad idea. I use ice the same way per my doctor who prefers icing. However, I do love heat and may just try that. Thanks for the idea! Guest guest
" Anyway, my message was meant to be that a friend of mine told me that her son and a few others are climbing Mt.Washington on Saturday no matter what the weather! One of the people is a professional climber. Even my friend is worried about her (very grown) son. " Carole Say it aint so Carole.! MT Washington, NH. is breaking all kinds of cold weather records now. I am in Long Island. NY and they are talking about it here on the news. They said that it is so cold on top of MT Washington that it is off the chart, immeasurable. That sounds pretty ominous to me. I sure hope those climbers rethink there very dangerous quest. At least maybe they could postpone their climb until we get some more sane weather. I hope they do. This is the message that my brother in northern VT sent me this morning...LOL " I woke up this morning to 35 below--[zero].Our high was around -10.BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.I'm beginning to feel like an Eskimo, eat a pound of whale blubber, hitch the dogs to the sled and head for work. " He is a riot huh? He never talks about the weather up there so this is very unusual for him to give honorable mention to it. Must be exceptionally cold now....even for those durable Vermonters. : ) ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Guest guest
Also, it is so cold here in NY right now that my dog doesn't even want to go outside to go to the bathroom. LOL With the winds whipping around here last night and this morning, I thought I had been transported to the frozen Tundra.. Unusual weather we have been having lately. I have this heating pad thing that attaches by velcro to my waist. You heat it up in the microwave for about one minute and then strap it around your waist. It stays warm for almost an hour. It works really well to relax my back. I wore it this morning when I had to get out of bed and drive the kids to school through the frozen Tundra. I am not sure what it is made of but it is supposed to have aroma therapy herbs in it too. I don't know much about aroma therapy, but the heating aspect in it works really well. No batteries or electricity. You can even go to sleep with it. It is not bulky at all. My husband purchased mine at our local mall for a Christmas present for me but I noticed a web site for these things on the package it came in. It is... http://www.rachelsbest.com/ I got the back belt. Just an idea for those who are braving this extreme cold wave that we have going on now. Also, it helps me to go to sleep, or just to relax. You can turn it into a cold pack for summer use too. Its a pretty handy item I think. Not expensive either. It sure made braving the cold this morning a little bit easier for me. ............Carol ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Guest guest
Just to put in a comment. The back belt is probably filled with long-grain rice. I have made the neck pillow and you're right, it is a life-saver in helping to relax the muscle. I know that herbs can be added when the pillow is made. The scent of the herb, when heated, help relax/calm the mind. At least, that is the theory. I'm not experinecing the cold that you New Englanders are facing, but the cool humidity does a number on my muscles and the rice bags help with the pain. My thoughts are with you guys, especially during this cold snap. I hope you don't suffer any power/heat loss.
