Guest guest
Hi 'Irish'! I do so wish I could go to a massage therapist. Unfortunately, I'm one of those " odd ducks " that ended up with hyper-sensitive skin after all my surgeries. I can't stand to have any area around my scars touched, which besides massages, makes it very difficult to wear certain clothes! The scar over my left hip, which is my first bone graft site, it the worst!! If I happen to wear a pair of, let's say jeans for instance, that rub on that scar just the wrong way, the electric-type, shocky sensations I get can send me through the roof!!! I try to wear loose fitting clothing as much as possible so that I don't scare people if I get a sudden " shock " and jump up with a grimmace on my face...kinds' freaks people out if you 're sitting in a restaurant and suddenly you leap out of your chair! I spend my home-time wearing sweats or those new, flannel, drawstring pants...those are a dream-come-true for me. Welcome ! I'm so glad you've joined our little group. Guest guest
Hi Beth, I am sorry to hear about the sensitive skin problem. That must be rough. I often thought that massage is a great complementary therapy for scoliosis and H.A.R.M.S. . I don't go to the massage therapist myself anymore. . I probably should but those co payments do add up. My husband used to give me back massages but that has gone by way of the dinosaur. My kids used to give me back massages from time to time. They were so cute. They saw me hurting and would just offer to make Mommy feel better. My youngest is 12 and my oldest is 17, so those offers subsided and then disappeared completely. Such is life for an aging Scoliosis person with HARMS. : ( If I could get 2 wishes, I would wish for every ones back to feel better. My other would be for everyone here to get a personal masseuse available 24/7. And for Beth, a Nice warm Jacuzzi and heated pool. : ) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hi 'Irish'! Guest guest
Beth, Its great to read that someone else feels so " sensitive " around those same " skin " areas! I love to have my husband rub my shoulders but boy, stay away from that super size back scar! My hip scar is a giant half moon on my right hip all along the iliac crest. Its been 35 yrs since my 1st surgery but its still more bothersome then the back scar. Just gives ya a " feel good " feeling to be able to say " Scolies Unite!!
