Guest guest
The Vermont scoliosis specialist that I saw, and who performed my A/P scoliosis surgery was Dr. Monsey. He is very caring and very thorough. He had me go to the pulmonary lab in our hospital for tests to see if I could tolerate surgery and the outcome was borderline. I assured him I was strong and I could do it. I would stay well for a month and be careful not to acquire any colds. I stayed out of the public places. I came through surgery just fine.I have severe COPD with asthma and bronchitis, and at the time had 1/2 of my lung volume capacity. Dr. Monsey is with the New England Spine Institute in Williston, VT and the Fletcher Hospital in Burlington, VT. It would be helpful to know who is doing revision surgery in Vermont -- especially on people with cardiopulmonary conditions or other issues which some doctors regard as contraindications. Maybe the Vermont surgeon would be a good second-opinion specialist for some of our members with signficant medical conditions other than scoliosis and flatback syndrome per se.Please see below. From: Lana Date: Jan 17, 2008 8:29 PMSubject: Re: File - Hard Facts and OpinionsTo: Moderator <-owner >I saw Dr. Rand in 2002. He said he wouldn't touch my back 'with a ten foot pole' because of my lung problems. I assured him I would be ok, that I was strong, but the answer was no. I had the surgery in July 2002 and am glad I did, with another MD in VT.lj Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Try it now.
