Guest guest
Leah, Welcome back from Lurkdom! I loved your little story about " suffering for beauty " . Why not stay around? Carole M. the elder
Guest guest
--- Carole M. Thank you! I spend so much time trying to get caught up reading all the post I don't have time to write. But I'll give an update on my situation. I finally found a doc in Louisiana that would see me. He (I feel like) begudgedly admited that I have flatback, but he feels that the splipped disk, pinched nerve and sponda-whatever are the worse. He wants to send me to Texas to Dr. Shelikov (did I spell that right?) but I am afraid that he's going to want to operate and I just can't afford that right now. So I'm going to a pain management doc now, I've only seen him once and he put me on Neurontin 3 times a day. I've been on it 3 weeks and it hasn't helped at all. I go Feb. 19 for some injections I don't look for that to help either because my orto tried it twice and it didn't help. Therapy didn't really help either so I'm just kind agravated with the whole mess right now, I just want to go to bed and stay there because that's the only time I don't hurt. I'll try to write more another day! Leah In , scolioly2@a... wrote: > Leah, > Welcome back from Lurkdom! I loved your little story about " suffering for > beauty " . Guest guest
Leah, There is much to be said about pain clinics and the good that they can do. I did the whole routine with them and found the people (most of them) to be truly dedicated to finding relief for the patient (and there were some pretty strange patients). The word " injection " can cover a multitude of things. I would never completely dismiss injections. I've had a few that did nothing, and some that did a lot of good. Sometimes it takes a day or two to realize that, " Oh, my gosh, the pain is less! " . So give it a good honest try while you try to avoid surgery. It may be worth everything you put into it! Guest guest
Hi Leah, I used to take Neurontin. My pain regimen now involves a few meds and a kind of rotation every now and then. When I was taking Neurontin, I was disappointed. However, if it gets thrown into the mix during my next " rotation " I will remember to take pain medication along with it. Thank you for the tip! Guest guest
--- Carole M. I will give a good try I hope that it does help, yesterday was just one of my bad days, up at 2:30a.m. with my husband before he went to work at 3:30am and I had some stuff I needed to catch up on at work so I went in at 5:00a.m when I usually go back to bed after he leaves because I don't have to be to work until 10:00a.m. so by the time I wrote that yesterday I was pretty bushed and I was hurting majorly bad from sitting at the typewriter all day. But I think I need to get up like that every once in a while because I feel more rested than I have in a very long time toay. This is to everybody, Those of you who have been on neuroton, is it more effective if you take a narcotic pain releaver along with it or a nsaid or something, my brother-n-law who also takes it says his doc said that about it being coupled with a narcotic. Because my doc only prescribed the neuroton and it just ain't getting it. The Lortab 7.5's my ortho had me on helped more than this does. Although one to one half hours into it the lortab would be gone and I would either have to take another one or just go lay down. The only benifit I have noticed with neuroton is I get more sleep than I used to. O.K. I'll shut up for now.
