Sonerila, I had that happen to me, tried putting it in freezer and it did

come out maybe shrunk a bit? Anyway if that does'nt work just take knife and

go around edges of mold if that does'nt work your gonna have to chop bits out

grate them and re-mill, but whatever you do don't let that block of lye and

oils get the best of you ! Just roll up your sleeves and let it know who's

BOSS! Good Luck you CAN do it! Pamela

Great job a!

I, too, find my workouts to be VITAL to my success. Once you " allow "

yourself a day off when you should do your workout, it gets too easy

to slip-up in other areas. DISCIPLINE is a wonderful thing.

Don't worry, I'm not going to fall for the Mc's cheeseburgers.

My husband has been eating as healthy as I have the last few days

and if he does decide to eat something like that, I'll stick to

smelling the wrapper. LOL

Here's to continued success for you!

Take care

Hi Jill,

So what did your doc think was causing your hip pain? Did he do

x-rays of your hip as well as regular and sagittal x-rays of your

spine?

That's great that the physical therapy helped your back. I'm in

physical therapy to help rehab my 8 month old artifical hip (replaced

due to osteoarthritis and congenital dysplasia), and most things I do

to rehab my hip aggravate my spine, unfortunately. Sounds like yours

had just the opposite effect of mine, so I'd be curious to know what

kinds of things you did in therapy. (I do have flatback syndrome, but

am already fused to the sacrum.)

I've found in my travels that spine docs don't know all that there is

to know about hips and hip docs don't know all there is to know about

spines, so if you haven't yet seen an orthopedic surgeon that

specializes in hips, you might try that.

I would think that this or any of the other flatback or scoliosis

groups that are on the internet might be of use to you as a resource.

There are a bunch listed in the " Links " section of this site.

Sure hope you will find some help for your pain soon,

loriann

Thanks. This doc didn't venture a guess at what is causing my pain. I

appreciate that he

didn't want to " do " anything other than PT at this point. I'm hoping that we'll

get some better

pictures and a better idea when I go back to him. I have no interest in

anything invasive,

which is why I'm searching out alternatives. Hopefully, my Osteopath will have

some good

advice for me.

Is there any way you can get to a qualified revision surgeon? Or is

Dr. O'Brien a revision surgeon, but one we may not have heard of?

It can be very hard to get the right diagnosis, especially with

problems related to previous fusions and Harrington rods. Too many

doctors, including orthopedists and spinal specialists in other

areas -- I have learned this from the Feisty group -- are still

sending patients away with no diagnosis or a pat on the head. Almost

always this reflects the doctor's lack of knowledge and experience.

If you are completely confident of Dr. O'Brien's conclusion, you

still need someone who CAN tell you what is going on. I am so glad

you have decided to persist. If you tell us where you are located,

some members may have suggestions of whom to see.

You raise some excellent points here, Loriann.

Seeing a hip specialist makes sense. I know my own spinal guys have

had little if anything to say about my hips. I suspect I might be

due for a hip replacement myself down the road, but I doubt that I

would ever hear that from a spinal surgeon.

Amazing how our bodies are divided up among the specialties!

Well, not to harp on our opinions too obnoxiously, but is this

osteopath a hip specialist or a specialist in the various

complications and adverse outcomes of people with scoliosis and

Harrington rods?

Unfortunately -- because finding the right doc can be a huge

challenge -- for your particular problems, you may need to see one

or even two highly specialized subspecialists. I hope that if your

osteopath does not have the necessary expertise, he will at least

have an idea where to refer you (other than for more PT!)

Hi Jill,

The only other thing I can think of is that sometimes docs are kind of

vague in what they tell you during the appt., but they are more

forthcoming in the notes they dicate for their records. You might

learn more if you request and obtain a copy of the medical record that

was generated as a result of your office visit. You might have to pay

a couple of dollars to get it, but it's usually worth it, if you can

get past the technical terminology they write. I usually request the

record for every important doctor appt. I've had.

Hope you will keep us posted, and good luck,
