I will keep your tip in mind , it is always good to know what I might expect. I know it is a surgery but I was is such a shape after the last reconstruction that I kind of think everything that follows will be peanuts!Of all the back surgerys I have had I have never had an anterior surgery. I have had two Caesarian sections, I do not no if that is anything to compare. Well not realy, I would say because they brought me two wonderfull children (oke they are not always wonderfull as you might believe.....) I hope this operation will help for at least the backpain there and the temporary loss of controle and not to forget the nerve pain. O well I know the stupid scar tissue and arachnoidea of the dura will always give me lots of trouble, they can cut the scartissue on the nerves away but every surgery it comes back. My bone is not groing very well eather. After nine months there are still a lot of bone chips floating around. It does grow every three months a teany bit but at the way it is going it might take another two years for it to fuse. I will let you know when I get the date set and the peace of paper I need from my insurance. Thanks for listning and wish you all the best and hope you are doing as well as kan be. It sounds as if you feel right about proceeding with this surgery. The doctors may have called it " minor, " and it's good the number of vertebrae will be limited. I did feel my own anterior surgery was pretty bad compared to my posterior surgery, but in that instance the whole works -- posterior-anterior-posterior--required two separate surgical " installments " of 9-10 hours each. It must be exhausting making all these trips back and forth to Germany. How long will you be in the hospital? Can they let you recover for a while in a nice rehab before you have to cojme home again? Please let us know when you have a firm date for the operation.ation. I hope you can get some rest and have some fun over the holidays. I still have movement in my spine so I suppose it has something to do with it. I was suposed to have a anterior surgrey but they said it probably was not nessesary. Wow, where did you hear that it's typically easier than posterior surgery? I was so surprised to read this! -- would love to know the source of the information. ly the anterior portion of my own first revision was murder. The pain was unbelievable. There was just no comparison with my posterior-only operations. Now I am wondering why I was atypical (if, in fact, I was) -- interesting. To access the spine from the front is far more difficult technically - because you have the abdominal cavity and all its contents to push aside. Or if the scoliosis area is upper thoracic, then you have to cut the sternum apart. Whereas posteriorally, the spine is just there!
