Hey Dianne,

WAY WICKED KEWL! (There's that well know New Englander term. LOL) I'm glad

you're not leaving.

Sometimes it is very difficult for me to understand posts. When I have 25 or so

e-mails to read from this group I try my hardest to read fast and undertsand it

all. However, time is an issue with me and my comprehensive reading attempts

fail BIG TIME...more often than not. I also get online late at night sometimes

and I'm just downright exhausted.

OK...I have to tell you this. Remember I went to NEBH to have my MRI? Well, I

called 3 times to ensure prior authorization was obtained for this procedure. My

insurance company requires this prior authorization. The patient cannot obtain

it. Anyhow, guess what? We're being billed $3700 for that MRI because the

doctor's secretary did not obtain that authorization. A request for an

authorization 'after the fact' is being attempted. They'll probably get it but

my husband and I will have a hefty out of pocket expense due to some penalty for

not getting prior authorization.

Since I have written down the times I called Rand's office to ensure Priscilla

contact my insurance company, the telephone bill to prove my long distance

calls, etc...etc... NEBH financial office is working with me on the issue.

They'll be able to knock off some of the bill after I mail them proof. PHEW!

Can you just believe how poorly this has all played out? LOL I still think Rand

is a great surgeon. Apparently it would have cost us top dollar to stay with

him. :)

I just had to tell you of yet another set back. I guess I'm getting subtle

hints from somewhere not to go to NEBH any more. So now I say " I can take a

hint. "

Hi ,

Yikes, thanks for the info about the MRI mix-up! I'm due to go in

for one in a couple of weeks and will make sure to be extra careful

about all steps being covered. What a shocker that bill must have

been!

I know what you mean about not taking in all that's contained in

posts, I've been guilty of that myself. For example, I missed

entirely that Sharon was only four when she was first operated on.

It was only on second reading that I caught that. I also try to keep

in mind that many of us are on buckets 'o' meds and my, doesn't that

put a delightful twist on things sometimes. It's why I'm guilty of

shooting off a fast post from time to time, sometimes I feel so bird-

brained that I must write fast before I'm distracted by some shiny

object and my thought process goes poof!

I was amazed at how quickly your situation has progressed, .

You sound ready and positive about your surgery, that's excellent!

And I envy you that. I'm sure I'll go ahead with the fusion

extension in July, but that's only if you asked me right this

minute, every day there's a tug of war going on in my head.

All my best, Dianne P.S. Your mix of Valley Girlism and N.E.

vernacular is delightful, but for the " RI/Mass " purists... it's just

plain " Wicked! " or sometimes, in later years, " Wick'it awesome! "

Sorry, Dianne, but you got that wrong, too! LOL

I wasn't operated on until I was 13, but, having been born with scoliosis, I

received outpatient care in the form of casts, braces, and PT from infancy on.

(I understand they currently operate on congenital scoliosis much earlier, as in

baby or toddler age, but they didn't have that technology back around 1960.)

Dianne,

I'm relieved and delighted to hear that you're sticking around.

I agree with you about the limitations of plaintext (vs. HTML). I understand

that there are new " conventions, " e.g., enclosing italicized titles in

asterisks, but to me this is just not the same as inputting in the appropriate

fonts.

Of course we did not have italics on our old-time typewriters either, but at

least you could underline words for emphasis.

I AM NOT LEAVING THE FEISTY GROUP!

Um... unless there's been a memo I'm not aware of and I've been

kicked out, that is.

For crying out loud, I'm not leaving the feisty group! I was using a

figure of speech, being tongue in cheek about an INFERRED group by a

member using the term " WE " in an eensie weensy remark that spurred

me on to run off at the computer keyboard. I wasn't even angry when

I wrote the post, just slightly irritated. I thought that was clear

by using the term " pet peeve " and saying if I had to use a quote

about how I feel about organized groups, it would have to be

a " JOKE " , i.e. Groucho Marx's remark. (Man, I wish we had the option

of using bold and italics in these posts, how annoying are those

capital letters?) I thought I had given you all a little insight

into my feisty soul via background info, now I feel so cheap! Used!

I bet you guys didn't respect me in the morning, didja?

, you're correct about text taking on a tone not originally

intended. I am not anti-group, there are just aspects of groups that

I'm touchy about and will address those issues when they come up.

The post you referred to regarding Dr. Rand was a perfect example, I

felt that what I had originally written was getting grouped into

something else that was making me uneasy and wanted to clarify.

That's just part of the dialog process as far as I'm concerned.

All my best, Dianne
