Annette, I do have ups and downs in pain. I did way more housework than I'm

accustomed to yesterday, and afterward I really felt it in the lower back. I

generally do better when I'm regular with workouts and sleep, and don't do too

much of the work that triggers pain. I'm also much more energetic, with

generally less pain, in spring. Even when it's not particularly nice out, the

longer day length seems to effect mood, energy, and work tolerance.

I hear you regarding the Naproxen. I didn't tolerate that well, so I took

Ibuoprofen for years, until I started waking up with pain in my stomach every

morning. Celebrex works well for me so far, though.

Reduced pain

Has anyone had this experience? I am feeling a little less pain

recently. I'm still stiff and need to change positions

(standing/sitting etc) and situational pain like when trying to clean

the bathtub or putting sheets on the bed (excellent reason to justify

a cleaning person!). I can't say that I've made big changes in

lifestyle, but I am trying to reduce stress and exercise a bit more.

I also was relatively pain free on my last vacation when I wasn't

tethered to my computer and was active. I recently dropped back on

the Naproxen because I was having stomach pain that I associated with

the amount I was taking. I am keeping a pain journal since the

patterns and pain are so odd and hard for others to understand.

Anyone else who is in the early stages of this unusual back condition

seen the correlation between stress and the lower back pain? Could

we also become " immune " or used to the pain and have distorted pain

reality? While I am grateful for this period of reduced pain, I fear

the pain coming back.

Thanks,

Annette

Annette,

After my 4th was born 4 1/2 months ago my back hurt for the first 2 weeks after

delivery. Then all of a sudden it stopped hurting until recently. I'd say I was

pain free for 3 months. As soon as I started shedding those pregnancy pounds my

back went crazy.

I've also noticed, sometimes I have inflammation which increases my level of

pain.

Also, check this out...pain medications can actually cause low back pain. I

don't know why I've just been told that and read it on the pamphlet the

pharmacist gave me with the vicoden. I don't take the vicoden every day as I

want to get accustomed to the pain. My biggest fear is being in excruciating

pain and being without pain meds. Sounds scary and icky I know, but that's my

fear.

One last thing. I've noticed when the weather warms up and I get out more,

whether it be to walk or ride my bike, I do have less pain.

The bed we have hurts my back, I'm ready to buy a water bed. I had one years

ago and recall I slept like a dream. Wonder if a different bed helped you also.

xoxo's

Keep doing what you're doing...pain free is awesome!!!

Hi Annette!

I was also on Naproxen for about a yr. It helped in the beginning,

but durring the summer mths last yr my pain progressed when I was

more active I had to take 2 motrin and a tylenol along with with

Naproxen (self medicating) I also noticed when I sat all day at work

I felt stiffness in my hip when I stood up. my back also felt a

little stiff and tired. I'd stretch to feel better. I never described

it as pain. I also wonder if we become imune to pain an describe it

as fatigue and stiffnes instead. I also think stress can do alot.

while I sat at work I also kept a journal of symptoms.

Good luck
