Guest guest
I'm so glad that I've found this and another group here of adults with messed-up Harrington rod stories. I wish we were all OK, of course, but it really helps to read all your posts and know that I'm not alone. I don't know if I've got Flat-back yet. I suspect that it's started, but I can still stand erect. It may take me a few seconds--or minutes, depending on how long I've been sitting--to get all the way up, but once I'm there, I'm generally OK. I've been having more and more pain sneak up on me and my DH noticed that my lower back doesn't look right. And, no, it doesn't. I have been on this road before. I had two sets of rods put in back in '79 for an S-curve. Four years later, one came loose and I didn't even realize it. The top rods were taken out, but they had to replace the lower ones, for reasons I never really understood. I just accepted it and moved on. I wish now that I'd payed more attention because I'd have a better working knowledge of all of this. I will have to educate myself before things really get rolling. I am hoping that if I did pop a rod, that it can be removed permantly and no more fusions! Is that a realistic hope? My worst-case scenario is that I popped a rod AND have flat-back. But if that's the case, i can't imagine that it's too prgressed and maybe, with the help of these forums, I can learn how to prevent major crippling effects. Fingers are crossed. I should know next week, if all goes well with my GP's cooperation. I just want an initial x-ray, to determine if everything is still attached. At that point, I'll need to find a scoliosis specialist (as mine is retired) and see about this Flat-back thing. Anyone know a good doc in South Florida? Thanks for being here, Jill
Guest guest
> > Hello everyone, > > I've been reading your posts for awhile now. I got the bird mites from my chickens last summer and realized we had a real problem in the house in September. We've burnt our living room furniture and the master bedroom and livingroom carpet. We enclosed our mattresses in bedbug and mite protective covers. We sprayed and sprayed and then had an exterminator (inexperienced with mites) spray twice and left the house . We've been hotel hopping. A different room every night for 4weeks. I can't get them off myself. I've tried many of the things I've read about. I think they are living in my hair. I've cut it shorter but I'm afraid I'll have to cut it like a guy to treat my head properly. > > I'm very depressed and afraid they will go after my autistic son again as I work to rid myself of them. They do not bother my husband, thank God. He is my angel and my right arm in fighting these. I really feel that the truck is infested and we've been spraying it with a borax mix. I can't remember right now. For 5 or 6 days. Before that we bug bombed it and sprayed it. > > I think I'm about to have a mental breakdown. I was under a lot of stress due to being layed off for over 2 years and my husband is not working either. His family has been helping us stay out of the house. But its all coming to an end and I'm afraid I'll reifest the house and they will end up bitiing my son again. I can't bear the thought of him suffering and not understanding why. > > One thing that I have found that dries up the sores and helps keep them from biting is covering my whole body with desitin diaper rash ointment. (40o/o zinc). And swimmers ear to kill them in my ears. But they just keep crawling in my hair . > > I really don't want to go on like this. I can't get close to or my grand babies as the mites like them too and they itch and scratch. I feel like a leper. > > Has any one ever used the Riddex plus pulse things that plug into the wall and make a pulsing in your electrical wiring? It's supposed to get rid of rodents and bugs. We've had them plugged in at our house since we left but don't know if they are working. Although we've noticed the squirrels don't come near the house anymore. My sister swears by them. > > And has any one used a zapper? I was wondering if it would kill them in my hair? > > Thanks for being there. > Dee Ps if you want to get rid of ear mites on your cat or dog, give them some yogurt every day. It works like a charm. >
