Oh, Sharon, you just had me laughing out loud on this dismal day! My kids

are grown and gone. My cat follows me and checks out the dryer when I struggle

with the washing machine, trying to transfer the stuff. Would she help me?

No! And, when I am at the computer, she sits on my shoulder and makes me feel

guilty for taking " time off " when she wants to be fed. She does talk a lot,

but I do not always know what she is saying!

Sharon,

Parrots and chinchillas? Wow! I thought my pets were a handful and I only have a

Yellow Lab and a cat!! My pets vie for the space under my feet all the time

which, in my case, can be quite dangerous. I have a left foot drop and can't

feel my left leg so this poses a major problems at times. On more than one

occasion, I have drop-kicked my cat (by accident of course...he's my

sweetie)down the basement steps because he gets underfoot trying to race me to

the basement at meal time!! I've tried to tell him not to trip Momma and on

those occasions when he's found himself flying down the steps he pays

attention...for a whime...then he forgets and we go thru the same routine. But

my pets have been by my side through 2 surgeries and somehow, they just know!

Animals fascinate me when it comes to understanding.

All the best,

Beth

Animals are amazing, you're right, Beth.

My bird generally wants to be with me all the time, but when I get on the phone,

if " Daddy " is home, she'll fly and find him rather than compete with that thing

on my shoulder.

And even thought they're in cages, the chinchillas are real interactive pets,

with individual personalities. The boy chin is an absolute treat-aholic, and

once he's up for the evening, when he sees me approaching he sticks his nose as

far as possible through the bars, begging for a raisin, date, or whatever. His

little sister is bouncy and curious, and likes to hang out ON TOP of her

exercise wheel. It was fun watching her learn to do it, but now she balances so

well the wheel never turns and dumps her. The male hates being chased or

grabbed, but after being in the exercise ball, he enjoys a good cuddle. His

sister is very easy to catch, but isn't a cuddler; she'd rather be exploring,

and one of my favorite behaviors, running toward a wall, hitting her hind feet

against it, and bouncing off. Yes it literally is a zoo here, but that's

typical of houses with kids bouncing off the walls, too!
