Guest guest
Dear forum members, The news of NACO declining the AusAID grant, is a shamefull act indeed, but not shocking, as it is not the first instance such thing has happened. In the past, during 1992-94, an European Commission grant of 10 million US dollars earmarked for prevention and control of HIV/AIDS in India was lying idle. Frustrated with lackadaisical approach of the Ministry of Health, the EC moved the proposal to sanction part of the grant to two NGOs and after one year of waiting, the Ministry declined its permission to allocate the grant to NGOs. During 1992 itself, on one hand several of the grants were not taken and on the other hand a loan of 84.5 million US$ was taken from the World Bank. Can anybody highlight the politics of the 'World Bank' loan; which often gets priority over the grants from other bilateral agencies? Dr.I.S.Gilada E-mail: ihoaids@... Guest guest
Dear Forum members, I think NACO should share the reasons for declining the proposal. Thanks Dr.A.K.Agarwal E-mail: drakagarwal@...>
Guest guest
Dear Forum members, Dont you think that we need to make sure why the AUSAID grant was refused: I understand a large chunk of the money was going for paying the Consultants from Australia when we can draw on our own expertise. Raising a united voice is certainly useful, but only after acertaining facts. If we dont get facts then we have a reason to raise a voice too. Nita Mawar NARI, Pune 411026 E-mail:nitamawar@...
