Guest guest
I have been dealing with Samter's triad for about 15 years. I had two sinus surgeries and flush my sinuses daily using NeilMed sinus rinse now mixed with a liquid steroid prescribed by the ENT. It used to be that every year, usually in August, my right eye would swell above and below the lid. I don't have a fully formed maxillary sinus on the right side. Since I started rinsing with the steroid, I've had this swelling every other month. I live in Western Washington and would like recommendations on a good ENT who is familiar with this illness. I may need another surgery to shrink the polyps. I'd like to go with a doctor who will try to " cure " this illness, or at least keep it from flaring, even if that means aspirin desensitization. Any help would be appreciated.
Guest guest
, My ENT in Tacoma didn't seem too clued-in, but my allergy doc in Gig Harbor ( Brown, yes that's his real name) was just talking to me yesterday about aspirin desensitization of a Samter's " poster child " patient of his who is doing great now. Dr Brown seemed really knowledgeable; after reading many posts here, it was good to discover that my own doc is quite up to speed on this, although it may not be a useful approach for me, myself. Currently he's got me introducing a Singulair tab dissolved in 3cc of saline solution into sinuses, which to my surprise is actually helping with my morning headaches and mucus-y nights. Originally I sprayed it; now I'm tipping upside down and am putting 1.5cc into each nostril with a syringe = less messy. Prednisone is clearing out polyps at this moment so we're in " wait and see " mode to see how the Singulair works against future polyp production. I stand humbled by all of you samter's folks' stories. > > I have been dealing with Samter's triad for about 15 years.
