Guest guest
, Regarding your comments and message: My polyps grew back very aggressively until post 6 weeks aspirin desens & therapies I had three polypectomies post surgically If you are going to DESENS, do it SOON and get a polypectomy if needed. Otherwise you are spitting in the wind if you get desensitized when your sinuses are full of polyps i.e your anatomy is screwed up so you'll still get infections and consequential bronchitis and asthma You will likely still get infections even with Desens but if you respond favorably to aspirin, your symptoms could be far more controllable Severe symptoms for me have moved back and forth from Sinus to LungsBefore my last surgery and asprin desens, my face was swollen beyond recognition with steroids and fluid build up. I had no life because I was always ill, sometimes seriously. Now I still get sick, but in general, I have a really good life. I have tried alot of homeopathy without relief. I do agree with Pam that desens to "triggers" and immune building is also very helpful. Also identifying for yourself environments that simply won't work for you. For instance I was chronically ill in 2 homes and improved upon leaving them. Best of Luck. Get desens'd (within a couple of weeks) now if you are going to. The aspirin helped but I needed elimination of triggers over a long time to really get better. The other thing that finally set me back to normal is the aciphex. I discovered that acid reflux was exasperating my symptoms.Your homeopathic experience is interesting. I haven’t had any relief from homeopathic remedies but I wish I could. The general answer to your question is that aspirin helps many sufferers of Samters. You won’t know if it will help you unless you try it. The good news is that it is fairly low risk and very low cost. The two symptoms people quit aspirin for are intestinal intolerance or failure to desensitize. With proper precautions, I say just try it. You may be one of the lucky ones.PamOn 11/30/07 12:03 PM, " Fine" <gmmf5 > wrote: Can someone please tell me what the benefits are from the aspirin desensitization. as i read all the posts since i've joined i realize the degree of symtoms differs among folks writing. Myself i have tremendous problems with polyps and all of the side effects from the lingering sinus infections that result. i just had a 5th polyp surgery 4 days ago, and am considering desensitization in a few weeks. As I read all the medications and diets people are on I am trying to figure out which syptoms they are trying to control or what root causes the diets are helping with. i've had this problem for over 25 years, but have only recently been aware of info about samter's. As with many of you it certainly was exacerbated by a dose of aspirin in 1983. the asthma was the worst symtom for about 8 years. It was not well controlled and all the medical intervention did little to help. I had instant relief 17 years ago with a single dose of homeopathic medicine.. I know everyone is different and use homeopathy for other things and what works for one might not be right for another, but i wonder if anyone else has tried it. for me it was THUJA 1M that did the trick. It has only come back 2 times since, and both followed sinus surgeries. I can see so many of you sufferring as I used to with asthma and wonder if it might be effective as it was for me. Even without the asthma the polyps make me prone to constant infection these past 18 years. Other than that though what are the other sypmtoms of Samter's that people experience. I tried all the nasal sprays and pills doctors gave me for the polyps but they have always grown back. I've heard the asprin desensitization could stop the polyps from growing. Is that an experience others have had. What are the main reasons most of you are taking all the different drugs mentioned. Is it mostly for asthma control, or do some also control polyp growth. I am also intersted in more diet info, as with the polyps out once again I am motivated to keep them at bay. What behaviors do you think encourage polyp growth and exacerbation of other Samter's sypmtoms. I really appreciate the sharing done on this site. thank you, garyelliecub <elliecub > wrote: yes I would say that i get about 90% the same benefits from 81mg as 325mg. if i al getting sick or my nose is more swollen i up it to 240 for a couple days and then back down and that seems to keep it in check.> > >> > > Hi Fellow Polyp People,> > > > > > I am now in my 5th month of aspirin desensitization and still take > > 1300 > > > mg a day.
