Guest guest
Good idea southernbuggirl. Here are my answers: 1. 2-1/2 years. 2. From gardening most likely. There was a dead bird in yard. I also had done a lot of gardening the day before we noticed things biting our legs. May have tracked them into the house. Also, a friend had birdmites at the same time and I spent a lot of time with her off and on. Most likely source would have been through gardening, not through my friend. Had a strange rash on my neck after visiting a bird sanctuary earlier in the year, almost like poison oak because it spread from one small spot to all around my neck. 3. Bites on legs were the first indication. Later it spread to the rest of my body. Also had white specs raining from my scalp. Thought it could be dandruff, but it was not. 4. Doctors prescribed the usual Permithran and various other prescriptions to handle the outside of the body, finally Ivermectin through sympathetic dermatologist. Those helped for maybe a day. We did the Permithan 4-5 times over entire body. Ivermectin for maybe a month. Finally went to an LLD, lyme literate doctor who prescribed antibiotics, had us tested for dozens of things, took anti-parasitics, herbals like Cat's Claw in the form of Samento, antibiotics for 18 months, and many other things like nutritional testing, testing for heavy metals, testing for Lyme Disease. 5. We did follow a protocol for cleaning. We followed birdmite.org and everything they suggested, we tried. We bought everything they suggested. My addition to their protocol was the steam press and the dehumidifier which helped us. 6. MSM has helped the most; Borax and ammonia in wash, Dr. S's products as Happy Tummy and FAR Infrared Rainbow, flowers of sulpher, lint rollers for skin, lint rollers for walls and linoleum, Windex, ammonia, Vicks around mouth and nose at night (no longer needed), Listerine in spray to get fibers, mites and mold off skin. MSM drops for eyes, Equate dandruff shampoo. Logos Nutritionals to help with energy and mood (the best to give energy to deal with this crap). Nutrasilver was helpful. Least helpful: Molecula silver. I saw no change from using this highly applauded form of silver. Informal Survey This may have already been done but, if not, I think it would be so great for each of us to complete and post our responses to a general survey that covers many of the topics newbies usually come to this site for. When I had my hysterectomy last year, there was a site that had the same type of thing - I could just scroll through everyone's responses to specific questions looking for information that I was seeking. Anyone think this might be helpful? I just threw together a few questions - I am sure you all who have been at this a while could come up with something much better. I would be happy to compile the questions and then post the survey up if anyone wants to do this. Not sure if I am violating any rules of the board by suggesting this so please forgive me if this is something that is not allowed.1. How long have you been dealing with bird mites2.
