Hi all:

A couple of questions and observations.

First a few days ago someone mentioned using a saline rinse with Iodine in it as an antibacterial or anti-fungal (I don't remember which.) My question is why iodine? In numerous posts, people in this group have said never to use iodized salt in rinses because the iodine is bad for us. Which is it and why?

Second I also was wondering about the recommendation that nearly all have given to warm/heat saline rinses prior to use. Part of this I am guessing is for sterility and part for comfort of the user. I think most of us are aware that when treating injuries or strains of muscles cold is used because it tends to decrease inflammation, heat will actually bring more blood into the area and tend to increase inflammation. Don't we as Samterites want a decrease in polyp inflammation? Would cool/cold water be better than warm?

Thanks

Marcus
