Guest guest
Hi All- Re sense of smell. I'd lost mine, even with 10 mg of prednisone, daily plus ongoing infection. I also got a CT Scan from my allergist saying "Yep, just as I thought, you need surgery! I have a "no more surgery" mantra so I shook things up with some simple changes. I switched from irritating as hell aqueous Nasarel to QVar (a lung inhaler neigh sinus inhaler) and changed my aspirin dose. The inhaler can be adapted to sinus use (per my old allergist) by placing a standard baby bottle nipple with nipple cut off top over the inhaler opening.. The fine mist gets well into the sinuses and doesn't irritate like alot of the other products. Make sure you keep the nipple clean with an alcohol pad or whatever. On aspirin, Carol advised me not to go too low on the dose or it would lose its efficacy. I tried to lower it to 325 daily because anymore a day without Prilosec is a day spent in bed with miserable nausea-sometimes vomiting. But I did increase the ASA to 325 twice daily with food. Also I've noted that just missing one nightime sinus rinse seems to put me immediately in to bacteria junkie land--so I never skip. I can smell now, infection rate is in half; my prednisone dose is cut in half and going down. My ENT says things look relatively terrific. Hah! Liz Ken West <kenwest@...> wrote:shook things up a bit.
