Guest guest
Being new to the group I may not be contributing any new info here but wanted to share this you all. I had my follow-up visit (2nd) with my allergist today post 2 week prednisone course. During my initial visit he suggested I continue using the Flonase 2x/day. When I asked him about the Moffat or Mecca position, he was quite adamant that it was not as effective as spraying in the upright posture then very lightly sniffing in while occluding the opposite nostril. He felt by inverting the head with a spray would cause the meds to simply traverse down the throat, no matter how long one kept their head inverted. Well today I brought it up again to him and he decided to try using a Qvar (beclomethasone) Inhaler and modify it by applying a baby bottle nipple onto the inhaler and just cutting off the very tip of the nipple. He then did recommend I apply it with my head inverted to insure it gets up into the ethmoid sinuses. The nipple fits snugly on the inhaler itself and certainly did seem to get the meds delivered pretty far up there. Here's hoping it delivers some better results than the Flonase.
