Guest guest
Has anyone been treated for pseudomonas with IV therapy? I don't tolerate the gentamycin washes so my ENT is telling me this is the only solution. IV treatment twice a day for two weeks!! I must admit though, I have been feeling pretty sick lately . . . . . headaches, nausea, exhaustion and fog head. All in all I have been one cranky witch. Any input is welcome. Guest guest
,IV therapy actually is the standard procedure for treating pseudomonas infection. But it often will not eradicate ENT biofilms when they are present because the concentration achieved locally is not high enough - the antibiotic is distributed throughout the entire body, and not just in the nasal area. This is why recent articles have reported attempts to use combination IV therapy, with two antibiotics being used, one of them often being tobramycin. What do you mean when you say that you do not tolerate gentamycin washes? What kind of washes did they give you : 's solution, or nebulization, or something else ?Did they try to test the pseudomonas for antibiotic sensitivity? If treated by IV antibiotics, ask for the side effects of the antibiotics ; for instance, if the notice says that they may hurt the kidneys, ask what you can do, like drink a lot or take antioxydants or whatever, to lessen any side effects.>> Has anyone been treated for pseudomonas with IV therapy? Guest guest
Thanks - all that is very useful information for when I talk to my ENT this afternoon. And yes, the wash was 's solution, mixing the Genta in with the saline. It made me feel ill and doped up, I think probably because of the sulfate they use to dilute the Genta. Anyway I gave up after two days. Don't know if they tested the pseudo for antibiotic activity. Will ask. thanks again for your help! samters From: asfyso@...Date: Tue, 21 Jun 2011 05:27:54 +0000Subject: Re: Pseudomonas Treatment , IV therapy actually is the standard procedure for treating pseudomonas infection.
