Guest guest
Dear Steph, LDN: I stopped taking LDN. I didn't realize that I was almost out of it and needed more, I get it from a pharmacy in New York, and it wouldn't arrive in time. I had been thinking that it really wasn't doing anything for me, I gave it 6 months and nothing noticeable. So I just stopped taking it once I ran out. I had been tapering off of my Astelin a few weeks before and it never occurred to taper off of LDN. A few days after ending it my back and knees started hurting. I figured from swimming because I was swimming 2-3 hours a day. They didn't hurt all the time, just for 5 min in the day here and there, not every day, and for 1/2 hour after swimming. I figured that these problems were from stopping too abruptly. I am not sure what I was hurting from since there are no withdrawal symptoms for LDN at this dose, although this could be from that. My knees/back stopped hurting after about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks after stopping LDN. I am glad that I am off of it because I did not notice any improvement, although other Samterites might improve. Steph. K's Diet: I have been on this diet now for about 3 months about. Just a quick update: No dairy, no beef, no gluten products, no white/brown sugar, no hydrogenated oils, no food coloring/preservatives, no artificial stuff, no pop, no citrus fruits, no corn, no soy, no peanuts, no shellfish, no condiments. I have noticed a difference, a great difference since going on it, to recap, it took 3 weeks before I started feeling better. Now, if I eat something that I shouldn't, for example I had a chocolate ice cream sandwich, 6 Oreo's, a small bowl of popcorn, 1 brownie, and maybe some other food that I forget, last Saturday for my "cheat day". I had these all between 7-11pm. Around 1:30am I started feeling the effects of all of the food that I ate. I started sneezing a lot, my nose started to run A LOT, and I started itching A LOT. I couldn't fall asleep. I was up until 4:00 am sneezing, itching, and blowing my nose! I couldn't sleep because I was having an allergic reaction! This happen another time but I only ate 2 tropical flavored TUMS because I didn't feel so well. This time it was only until 2 or 3 am, still I felt miserable! The TUMs had yellow # 6 lake, yellow 5 lake, and red 40 lake, they also had other weird things and artificial things too. My reactions tend to come about 3 hours after eating what I'm not supposed to. I doubt that these will be my last reactions, because unfortunately my favorite food is chocolate! Until my throat closes up on me I will probably be eating my chocolate once a week or so. Again there was profuse itching legs, arms, face, back, eyes.....thought this information might be helpful with all the itching and scratching going on and since rashes have been the hot topic..... P.S. I am on Ibuprofen, not aspirin (because of bleeding/bruseing) for the desensitization. It doesn't have to be aspirin. K. (Michigan) Again I would love to know what states people are from. Just put the full state name after yours.
Guest guest
Eeeek, you're not allowed to eat chocolate? Is it ok to eat the organic 80% pure cocoa stuff? Also, I'm not too up to date with the diet thing - I did try it for a few months , but gave up when I became pregnant with my 3rd child. Not been on it since. BUT, isn't eating some foods with salycilates (eg an orange or tomato a day) a bit like taking measured doses of aspirin, as far as trying to desensitise oneself??? I really don't know.squeakieschubert@... wrote: Dear Steph, LDN: I stopped taking LDN. Guest guest
Steph, Thanks for the update. It's too bad about the LDN...I was really hoping that it might be helpful for you. Too bad about the chocolate!! I cannot eat chocolate either but I don't miss it as I was never much of a chocolate eater anyways. >G< - New Mexico
