Guest guest
I have had allergies for years, cats trees grass etc. within the past 6 years I have had lots of problems. It started 10 years ago with a right caldwel luc.an old proceedure to clean out the maxaullary sinus by cutting above the teeth. I have had bilateral injections with kenalog, three sinus pylopectomies, one finding lymphoma in my nasopharanyx ( I am not a medical person and can not spell this stuff but usually get my point across) My sinus surgery in 01 found the lymphomia and nothing but problems since. infections, sinusitus, steroids, antibotics...etc. The last year I have been on prednisone 6 or 7 times. it works each time but as everyone knows, the mierical drug that will kill you. I went to U of M sinus center for help and that is the first place I ever heard of triad asthma. I have had a touch of asthma from cats in the past but nothing like tha last year where the sinus infection went into my lungs. I have never had any reaction to any asprin type of medicaitons and the doctor in U of M was just short of saying it was triad samters. my next appointment is not till FEB and I an stuffed up and can not smell or taste again. one course of leviquin cleared up the last infection but made me ache all over for several weeks. never again. I do not believe I have samters or triad as I still have not had a reaction to asprin, but I have all the other symptoms , recuring polops some asthma and bad allergies.. If anyone has suggestions let me know. crosssm@...
Guest guest
How old are you? I'm 24 and this all sounds very familiar. My sinuses have been pretty horrible for going on 10 years or so but not all the symptoms showed up right away. I could take aspirin, aleve, ibuprofen, etc, up until 4 or 5 years ago and only developed the chronic asthma in 2005. It usually progresses incrementally like that and normally in the mid-to-early 20s. You might just not be in the final stage, yet. Be thankful. > > I have had allergies for years, cats trees grass etc. within the > past 6 years I have had lots of problems. Guest guest
Hang in there. It will probably change. After moving to Texas in 1984, my allergy problems gradually increased from fall symptoms related to ragweed to continual problems throughout the year. Chronic sinusitis was a norm after moving to East Texas. From 1994 to 2004, I was a participant in the Women’s Health Study where I took 100mg of aspirin every other day. I never had any problem taking any anti-inflammatory medications. In 2001 at age 59, I experienced my first episodes of Asthma followed a month later by my first ESS .My allergist thought the asthma might be due to Samters and recommended I stop the aspirin for two weeks. There was no noticeable difference in symptoms and I resumed taking the aspirin. In 2004, polyps were removed again. Since the study ended in 2004, I have had allergic reactions to ibuprofen, and low dose aspirin on three occasions creating asthmatic symptoms. The aspirin sensitivity was the last of the triad to develop. Since the second ESS, I have been taking Singular, Nasonex and Advair. The past two years, I’ve had to use Medrol Dospak and Zithromcyin for sinus infections/ bronchitis three to four times a year.
Guest guest
I just turned 55. I have heard that the asprin sensitivity would hit in the mid 20's also....well I am well past that Re: Triad maybe??? How old are you? I'm 24 and this all sounds very familiar. Guest guest
Gee, interesting story. Too bad they recommended you stop the aspirin instead of taking a higher dose. They didn't know much about Samters, did they? Lori > > Hang in there. It will probably change.
