Yes, I feel tired more than I like.

There could be several reasons, but I will attribute at least some of it to

Samters.

Also, if you have not been checked for anemia (hemoglobin level), you should

probably do that.

Good luck with the desensitization -- it can't hurt and it may be very

helpful. Have you checked the primer . . .

?

Your experience with multiple surgeries is very common with Samterites.

Yes, I am very tired most all of the time. I used to be very energetic and active so it is very hard for me not to being able to do the things I want or to be able to do things around the house like I use to do.

I am up for a 8th surgery and am heading to scripps in a couple weeks to try and get Aspirin desensitized. I am hoping it will if nothing else slow down the time between surgeries. I am getting a little nervous about Scripps due to if I took Aspirin right now it would most likely kill me if nobody was around to help due to anaphelaxis ( I was intubated before)It really is my last option though considering I have pretty much tried everything else. I learned of it here any advice on it from those of you that have done it? But anyway my question for today is that do any of you feel very tired and wore out alot due to this disease or is it just me. I also get some pretty good headaches but I really find myself just plain tired with little energy. It is not really fair to my wife me not being very energetic although she is very understanding and I would have given up a long time ago if it was not for her support. Also any tips to help this would be appreciated. Maybe I am just tired of dealing with Samsters for the last 25 years... Luke

Hi Luke,

I think your symptoms are very common for our group - lots of headaches

(often with weather changes) and lots of fatigue.

I really think you will be impressed with Scripps. I was desensitized there

last October 5-9th. They are very professional, very friendly and VERY

safety conscious! I was fascinated with the whole process. Of course I must

admit that I do not have the scary asthmatic reactions that many of you

have. My asthma was quite mild and was minimized by a month-long trial of

prednisone prior to going to Scripps. But, don't worry. They are probably

the most experienced group in the world in dealing with reaction to aspirin.

They do it all the time!

Actually I am still trying to decide if aspirin desens. has helped me very

much. Right now, I think it did. At first I was quite disappointed to get a

sinus infection only 6 weeks after returning home. I also lost my smell.

However, last December 14th I was put on a small (4mg) Medrol dosepak along

with some antibiotics to get rid of my infection. I was amazed at how fast

my smell returned (within hours). In recent years, it would take a much

stronger/longer dose of prednisone to have that effect. I actually still

have my smell and taste most days now- 3 months later, even though I

currently have another infection.

I really think that the aspirin desens takes a while to reduce

polyps/symptoms. Unlike you, I was on the verge of having another operation

(frontal sinuses) before going to Scripps, but decided against it. So my

results may be hampered by my existing polyps. However, something positive

must be going on in my head right now, because for me to be able to taste,

even when I have a big sinus infection, is really rare.

Give my regards to the fine ladies that will take excellent care of you.

They are great! Take lots to read and maybe a laptop to get on the internet.

It can get a little boring, but it's really a first-class operation there!

Good luck to you.

I am up for a 8th surgery and am heading to scripps in a couple

weeks to try and get Aspirin desensitized. I am hoping it will if

nothing else slow down the time between surgeries. I am getting a

little nervous about Scripps due to if I took Aspirin right now it

would most likely kill me if nobody was around to help due to

anaphelaxis ( I was intubated before)It really is my last option

though considering I have pretty much tried everything else. I

learned of it here any advice on it from those of you that have done

it? But anyway my question for today is that do any of you feel very

tired and wore out alot due to this disease or is it just me. I also

get some pretty good headaches but I really find myself just plain

tired with little energy. It is not really fair to my wife me not

being very energetic although she is very understanding and I would

have given up a long time ago if it was not for her support. Also

any tips to help this would be appreciated. Maybe I am just tired of

dealing with Samsters for the last 25 years...

Hi Luke,

I can completely relate to you with being tired and the guilt that goes with it. What I do, only because I'm off of work right now, is to just lay down for an hour or so. I don't necessarily need to sleep, I just need to rest my body. Usually I'm fatigued within 5 hours of waking up in the morning. So if I can grab alittle rest period then, I'm usually able to cope with getting through the rest of the day. I used to think the polyps were the worst part of samters, but the constant fatigue I think is worse. I know your wife is understanding, my husband is too, but I'm sure most people like us feel guilty anyway. I have much less energy now in winter than in summer, i think because I'm always fighting sinus infections plus I'm feeling cooped up. So a little depression comes in too.

There is one thing I can do to give me a boost of energy. I can drink my homeade bloody mary mix. I don't put booze in it, but I bet a few drinks with vodka would give me a big boost. Ha Ha. If anyone ever wants the recipe I'd be happy to give it to you. I'm not allergic to the salicylites in tomatoes so It doesn't bother me. Hope this helps.

Dear Luke,

I have had it and found it was too low lung function. I have a peak flow

meter. You could use one and see where your lung function is. If it is

very low you may need some mist to get your lung function up and then you

will feel more energy. I discovered that this could make a huge

difference. Your lung function can actually be so low without you

realizing it.
