Guest guest
Thank you Asfy for asking .I have no regrets for having my draf 3 or modified lothrop procedure done. Dr Desrosiers deserves my total respect and thanks for your recommendation in the first place. If I did not have the procedure I would have had orbital cellulitis or meningitis or some other complication of my sinus disease.I haven't done as well as I had hoped at this point ,but haven't had the complications either.Firstly after I was debrided after my post op visit and the bleeding or clots diminished I desensitized myself to ASA 325 mgs per day.I also did aerobic exercise on my elliptical ie 600 cal at a session, because I could not stand sitting on my derriere for so long. Unfortunately I had huge blood clots afterwards. So I slowed down stopped the asa and the exercise and the blood clots came out about 3 week intervals for a while.Subsequently I have had a couple of sinus infections and am not sure the clots are over with yet.So basically I haven't done as well as I had hoped but also believe the healing is not complete as I delayed it from doing the above..The surgery took about 2 1/2 hours . I have osteogenic or calcific changes and believe that this happens to most of us and is underreported in CT scans more often than people in this group realize.I have yet to see Dr. Desrosiers for my follow up but will see him in the next few weeks. The trip to Montreal takes about 8 hours from where I live and I try to learn some French en route as I will see some of my mother's family and mine from Brittany France later this summer.Bon Sante
