Hello there-Which of the drugs you mentioned here are anti-fungicidal? I have tried an anti fungicidal rinse but find it pretty harsh(I lose my sense of smell for a couple of days after using it and wonder if it it worse than the disease, sometimes)It would be better to go to my GP and get prescriptions for fungicidal rinses that have been found good for the problem.I am fairly sure my polyp problem has fungus as it's root cause. So far I have been using a fugcidal rinse used for dandruff-it works but is probably not as good as the ones you have been using.I have found this group really good-better than most of the medical advice I have got-really up to date also. Thanks Brigg From: mommy4isabella <cramos@...>To:

Hi All,

I'm new to the group and have found this forum very useful! I have been living with severe persistent asthma for well over 15 years! In addition, I've had 4 sinus surgery, the last one roughly 18 months ago. My ENT prescribed an aggressive treatment shortly after my surgery. Consisting of nasal rinse with mupirocin and fluticasone, followed by pulimcort in a syringe injected directly in my nose AND then 3 drops in each nasal of dexamethasone. I'm also on Advair 500/50 twice a day, zyrtec 1 p/d (bedtime) and Allegra 1 p/d (morning). For the better part of a year I have discussed with my doctors the possibility of going through desen. We opted to first try Xolair treatments, two injections, twice per month. I started the injections in July and noticed a dramatic improvement with my asthma and allergy issues, within the first month! This treatment has truly been life changing for me! It is potentially a life long treatment, yet my doctor will

re-evaluate the frequency in about 2 months. Has anyone had experience with Xolair?

Can you tell us what fugcidal rinse you use and how you use it? I think I would like to try that. I believe that is my issue too. Melinda 29: 11 "For I know the plans I have for you", says the Lord. I have been using Cedel hair shampoo-anti dandruff. which is an anti fungicidal treatment for external use only-so it is not for using as a nose rinse Very weak-approx 1/4teaspoon in 200 ml in a rinse bottle(or weaker for the first trial).Be prepared to rinse out immediately with water if it irritates too much.I am sure the fungicidal treatments reccomended by the medical people would be better (at least you would hope so) so I would reccomend using them if you can get a prescription. Some of the things I do irritate my nose-I mow grass and pick it up and use it for mulch around fruit trees-perhaps all the dust and pollen is an irritant-also doing stuff in the shed such as metal grinding can stir up my nose.Having said that-things have never been better-the asthma is at a low level and I

can smell strong smells such as coffee, certain herbs etc. A far better result than what I got from an ENT with his recccomendation of Nasonex. He said if Nasonex doesn't work you will just have to live with it-end of story.Perhaps he should sign up for this website and learn something new. When I originally looked up info on the web about N polyps it said there were many theories/causes for them-now I realise that is correct-you probsbly have to slowly try different things until you get the answer.Surgery strikes me as a last ditch thing-could be very damaging I suspect.Probably some of it's popularity is due to the large amount of cash it generates for those involved in doing it.Good luck! , I seem to remember that this shampoo you mentioned contains zinc? I'd be super-careful, as a nasal spray that has zinc has been found to destroy sense of smell. I'd be careful of putting anything in the nose that contains zinc, though oral zinc can apparently in some cases help with SOS.On Nov 27, 2010, at 10:27 AM, Melinda Casida wrote:

Sorry to say that I can't recommend any treatment except to look up in doctors search for specialists and check their credentials and consider the costs that do not require much travel . You might also want to consider programs on auto suggestion to take your mind off the condition.. I do believe that although the problems may be real consider your present breathing environment and avoid over medication which leads to ultimate thinning of respiratory linings which causes more runny nose and perhaps irritating the pulmonary lining. Advice is to do research on medical treatments and don't over medicate. Sorry I can't be of more help. Breath deeply like they do in yoga and try natural remedies for relaxation to keep your thoughts off your condition. Perhaps long healthy walks in clean environment and try not over due things to your nasas passage. Stay healthy. If you could rid of the polyps check it out and do so. God Bless sorry I can't be of much help.Sent via BlackBerry from T-MobileFrom: Melinda Casida <mcasida57@...>Sender: samters Date: Sat, 27 Nov 2010 09:27:55 -0800 (PST)<samters >Reply samters Subject: Re: Xolair Treatments I agree. Joan, thanks for that cautionary note-I will get a prescription for a nose fungicide and use that-I am not in favour of self medicating -partic if it goes on for some time-the experts can cause enough damage without me trying anything and everything. The Cedel did have a remarkable effect however and that has pointed me in the direction of fungus as the main cause for me.Some of the people on this site sound really badly affected by these nose problems-infections,surgery,constant pain.It makes me put my issues in perspective-just loss of SOS and stuffiness-all much reduced now-when my SOS is back fully I sometimes wish it were not so good-the stink of car exhausts etcThaks to everyone for their ideasRegards Brigg From: joan harvey <thomyris7@...>samters Sent: Sun, 28 November, 2010 3:41:47 AMSubject: Re: Xolair Treatments
