Guest guest
actually i'm not sure that I can -- I think it's just an initial message, and can't be edited. Anyone have suggestions on how to do this? Guest guest
While we're on the subject, a few other questions have occured to me recently: 1. Does anyone else experience, every once in a while, a wierd pulsating feeling in a blood vessel somewhere? Every once in a while I get this, in a random place like the arm or leg, or even temple. 2. Did anyone else here use melatonin around the time of first noticing symptoms? 3. Did anyone else here have insomnia around that time, or a strange sleep cycle that was out of sync with Mr. Sun? The reason I ask is because I recently came across an article (I'll post it) http://www.nel.edu/23_4/NEL230402R02_Evsyukova.htm which links leukotriene overproduction in us ASA types with low daytime production of melatonin. I've always been a " night person " , doing my best work and having the most energy after the sun goes down. I'm wondering if there's a trend. Guest guest
I've always been an early morning person, but since all this Samters stuff started I am tired ALL of the time :-) If I don't get a good 8-9 hours of sleep I am usually wiped out the next day. Even when I do get enough sleep I still feel tired all of the time. I used to be a very active person and I have had to cut way back because I just can't do it anymore. Rob 2. Guest guest
Rob, you might also want to have yourself checked for sleep apnea -- the samter's symptoms can't be helping, but unrefreshing sleep can often be an indicator of apnea. Guest guest
Been there, done that. In fact, when I was at Scripps they were running a "volunteer" sleep study and they also said I was fine (sleep wise). It's just the rest of my body that is screwed up. Guest guest
Rob, Thanks very much for the interesting article. I had never seen any mention before of Melatonin relative to Samters. I have never taken Melatonin myself. Of course, like many with Aspirin Triad, I do feel fatigued much of the time. I'll have to ask my Dr. about it. I never recall anything special/memorable happening when I first realized that I had polyps. I had hayfever all my life and had bee stings also, but none directly related to the onset of ASA. I would guess that I had taken Ornade or another common antihistamine for much of my life - especially during the autumn season. Houston, TX had both mold and air pollution back in 1990 when I first developed ASA, but I was living in an air-conditioned house (with electrostatic precipitator filters on the A/C). Guest guest
Thanks for all the responses for the questionaire. Keeping thinking everyone of your worst time period with samters, when you felt the sickest and what you were doing for a living ect. I can tell we've all had thoughts of what causes our symtoms to become overwhelming. I'll be gone for a four day vacation (much needed) so email your questions and I'll get them together. Thank you everyone. I have to tell you all it's so uplifting to be in contact with so many people. I've almost become a recluse since I've become ill with samters. I finally feel like I'm in contact with the world again. Who knows, maybe I'll even become spontaneous this weekend. What a surprise that would be for my husband! Guest guest
I've tried to take Melatonin a few times but found that it greatly aggrevated my sinus problems. Just reciently I've been taking liquid calcium at night before bedtime and its the best thing I've ever done for sleeping, its just great. Also if you have taken oral cortizone you need to consider bone loss and a need for calcium anyway. I've been taking Singular and my Asthma has been greatly improved, but my sinus and nasal polyps problem has been a real pain. I can't get any air through one side going on two years now. I am affected by mold and I live about six miles from the ocean. When I lived further inland in a hot and dry environment I felt much better. Although I live in San Diego I will not go to Scripps for Samter treatment. Who wants to take asprin everyday with the possible side-effects. The only time I took two asprin in my adult life since getting asthma I wound up in the emergency room. Has anyone heard of treating polyps with caspsaicin? Its been done in Europe and I'm trying to find a nasal product that contains it, no luck yet. > Rob, > Thanks very much for the interesting article. Guest guest
Dear Rob, I think when you feel lousy it just tires you out.
