Hi Tim,

Yes, I have it. Only found out today via specialist's

written report on me. Don't know about any

treatments.

Regards, Jan.

According to Cheney, most CFIDS patients exhibit hyper-reflexia.

Hi everyone,

It was nice to find this group because no one I know really seems to

understand my misery. I have had multi-level (cervical, lumbar, and

thoracic) " mild " spinal stenosis for several years now. Due to

degerative arthritis. As time passes the symptoms become more

severe but except for offering me pain medications, the doctors I

have seen do little for me.

A big YES, to the leg cramps. Because of the cervical involvement I

also have cramping in my hands and forearms. I live daily with

pain, numbness, weakness and tingling in my back and both arms and

legs. It's getting harder and harder to do even the simplest things

like combing my hair...and the pain of climbing a set of stairs,

well, I avoid it as much as possible.

Does anyone else have hyperreflexia? I have it in all four

extremities and my jaw. Because of it I was sent to a neurologist

for fear of spinal cord damage or brain stem lessions. One small

lession was found and a " slight " deformity in my cerivcal spinal

cord. But it was determined that neither were serious enough to be

of concern.

Everything I read says that surgery should be done asap to prevent

permanent damage to the spinal cord, but doctors tell me it's not

serious enough yet to require surgery. So I wonder...how much more

serious does it have to get...how much more pain and misery to I

have to endure before it's considered bad enough to get help!

Well, now that I've gotten all that off my chest....thank you all

for being here. At least I know I'm not alone.

All I know from my own Doctor is that it can be heriditary which in my case with my Dad having had it, it would certainly be indicated. He also mentioned that it could be brought on via an injury such as a fall or accident. I also had a bad fall and injured my neck and shoulder so who knows......but you're right...it sure doesn't seem fair.
