Guest guest
Hi! I'm new to the group and have read most of the archived postings and files attached. Needless to say, I have learned a lot. I first realized that I had the dreaded Samters triad when I took ibuprofen after a D & C procedure for a miscarriage (AB- blood type, had rhogam shot). Had the classic anaphylactic reaction, etc. My asthma symptoms had begun about 6 months earlier while living in rainy east Tennessee (age 36...suspect a moldy basement as trigger), and first surgery for polyps at 37. I have had 6 sinus surgeries (now 45), including the frontal sinus ablation (?) (the one where they cut your skull from ear to ear). As part of my " cure " , I moved to San Diego in search of a drier climate. I have a great allergist (at Scripps Clinic...Dr. Woessner) and have been unsuccessfully desensitized to aspirin at Scripps (desense worked, but no improvement in symptoms). It took a trip to National Jewish for me (Jan '02) to finally get relief from horrible asthma problems. They put me on Zyflo (Singulair previously had done no good) and that was the magic pill I needed to get my breathing under control. Now I rely on Advair for asthma control, but the sinus issues (rubber cement in the sinuses, gooed up ears, and horrible headaches as well as the anosmia so common for all of you, still plague me. Enough about my history...my real curiosity is about Xolair effectiveness. Seems as though at least one group member had been treated with Xolair for a few months a while back, but I wasn't sure how things turned out (was it Rob? can't recall). Anyway, if anyone has any experience with Xolair please let me know. I am scheduling my annual trip to the allergist and wanted to know what the group's experience was prior to working with her again. Many thanks for all of the great info provided by this group!! in sunny San Diego
