Guest guest
Hi Lori, It was 3 years ago (the start of my pregnancy), and there wasn't as much info around then. I agree with you - recently I discovered info that it was ok to take singulair during pregnancy . I became quite upset because going off singulair made my asthma noticably worse, and at 12 weeks pregnant (in the middle of winter) I caught flu and had a bad chest infection for ages. I needed prednisolone and antibiotics etc . In fact I needed prednisolone quite a lot during my pregnancy, probably as a result of not being on singilair. I fetl I probably ended up taking a worse cocktail of drugs as a result of not being on singulair . I had a chat with my doctor about this and he put my mind at rest, saying I had probably done the best thing. He said that prednisolone is potentially more dangerous if taken EVERY DAY of the pregnancy compared with montelukast taken every day. But, I only took prednisolone for about 4 weeks of my pregnancy in total, that's 4 in 41! So he said the overall risk had been lower that way. ANYWAY, despite all this, I really loved my pregnancy and gave birth naturally when I was a week overdue! My baby was perfectly healthy. In fact, she is a lively 2 year old wriggling on my lap as I write this!! I have a big interest in pregnany, birth, breastfeeding and babies, and am currently training to be an Antenatal Teacher with the National Childbirth Trust here in Britain. I wish you all the best of luck with you future endeavors, Becky xtruelori <lori@...> wrote: Hi Becky,Welcome! Why did you have to stop Singulair during your pregnancy?I was told it was okay to take. I heard it was a class B drug and I talked to a specialist in high risk pregnancies and he said it was okay. Thanks,Lori ALL-NEW Messenger - all new features - even more fun! Guest guest
Thanks, Becky! I have another issue which is a history of breast cancer but my husband and I are hoping if my health stays stable that we will try to get pregnant in the spring. I'm sure I will keep people here updated. Thanks for the information on your experience. Lori
Guest guest
Lori Singulaire is a class b drug, but it hasn't been on the market very long, so there havent been any long term studies done. My OB told me that i could stay on it, my ENT suggested that I stop using it. I feel that my ENT knows me and my body much better than my OB, so i'm heeding her advice. She said that if she was pregnant she wouldnt take singulaire. a side note, we are trying to conceive and i am frankly so scared of going through a pregnancy with samters. it is going to be a totally different experience than my first pregnancy. jennifer (ny) > > Hi Becky, > > Welcome! > > Why did you have to stop Singulair during your pregnancy? > > I was told it was okay to take.
