Guest guest
Dawn, I haven't done it and my recommendation on this list (which is not shared by everyone) is always NOT to do it by yourself. So I would say however you do it you should make sure you have an easy way to get to the emergency room and are under a doctor's observation. It scares me when you use the words " deathly intolerant. " Are you also " deathly intolerant " to aspirin? Where have you seen/heard that 81 milligrams a day o other amounts less than 650 milligrams a day are helpful for Samters? I have certainly not heard that. I took 1300 milligrams a day and amount less than they were not helpful. I took Ascriptin and absolutely always took it with meals, and never had long-term or short-term stomach problems from the aspirin while taking it for seven years. This is not true for everybody, but it is possible not to have stomach problems from it. The stomach problems I had before I was desensitized happened because I was taking the aspirin and not desensitized. I was very very sick to my stomach and vomited DURING the desensitization, actually. Whatever you do, please be very careful. Lori
Guest guest
I agree: Self desens is a huge NO! Guest guest
Dawn I did the DIY desensitisation and had no problems starting with 5 mg and going up to where I take 650 mg twice daily now. I was extremely sensitive and got very sick on 25mg the first time I tried. My quailty of life is much better now as I had reactions to all kinds of foods before the desensitisation. I now take the aspirin and Singulair and have no asthma and few problems with polyps. I have a study where they got good results with desensitisation and then a maintanence dose of 100mg daily. I don't know where they found 100mg aspirin. You want to go to a higher level than your maintenance level. I would recomend you go at least to 650mg before you drop to your maintenance dose. I tried 325mg daily and it didn't work for me but everyone is different. Please email me if you have any questions. Drew
Guest guest
Honestly, I hope Dawn checks back in soon! I'm worried about her now. Lori > I agree: Self desens is a huge NO!
