Guest guest
, About Advair and Proventil, if you're taking the maximum dose of each, you're getting a hell of a lot of a bronchodilator in your body. They are not absolutely contraindicated, but Jessa said she was having shakes, and I was just trying to point out it probably wasn't from the Advair, but from the combination of the Advair AND Proventil. If you're taking Advair and more than occasional Proventil, you're either on too low a dose of the Advair or you're just not under control, in my opinion. You're basically taking a double dose of bronchodilator. It doesn't mean you should never take Proventil with Advair. Hope that clarifes. About the desens, this might sound too strong and harsh, but I don't think it's just what people feel comfortable with. I don't see any reason anyone should not try desensitization at a hospital if they have really severe Samters. It just makes no sense to me. People will put all kinds of other nasty things in their bodies, especially the steroids, but they won't go and try a procedure that could potentially be life-changing and even life-saving. I don't really understand it. It all depends on how severe the Samters is. For me my Samters was so severe, as it sounds like Jessa's is, that it had taken over my life and I was in danger of dying from asthma. It didn't even feel like it was a choice I had to make, it was an opportunity that had been made available to me and I had to try it. It felt foolhardy not to. I do respect people's decisions, but I also think there is a point when it's life-endangering not to try a treatment. Especially if you can't take steroids! I do understand that diet and other methods can help, and I'm not knocking those, but I really feel like the cycle of Samters can get so bad that something drastic such as the desense is needed to reduce the level of inflammation for a while. I hope this makes sense and doesn't sound too harsh. I would not advocate desense for absolutely everyone (some people do not have the level of severity with their Samters that others do), but when nothing else has helped and you still can't breathe .... Guest guest
Lori, I take the Proventil mainly as a rescue measure. I don't use it daily. I take Advair daily but I misunderstood what was said by Jessa and you. I didn't take what you said as harsh. I understand where you are coming from because you have been helped tremendously with desense, you want others to get the same help.
