Does anyone have a copy of the yellow binder from Scripps with all the info about ASA desens and would be willing to part with it for about a month? My new doctor want to see it. He doesnt know anything about Samter's and doesn't understand the rationale for the high dose ASA. IO though it would be easier for him to read about it than me to explain. Carol

Pain Management - home remedies?

Hello all. I've seen in this group what some of you do for managing pain. It's seems to revolve around prescription meds.I've had 5 sinus surgeries over 12 years... the MD doesn't want to do any more surgeries, he says that he's loosing the map in my head. Like many of you I cleanse the sinuses, but I've been using Alcolol and warm water... it seems to help. Along with a prescription nasal spray, daily claritin, and a 12 hour sudaphed. That's all about the nose - I also take advair and albuteral for the asthma.Unfortunately, occasionally I still get the facial pain and headaches. Since I HATE to be on Prednisone, and I am already sensitive to certain antibiotics...I've discovered that if I take a caffeine pill (yes, the stay awake over the counter stuff), along with rapid release acetaminophen and place an ICE pack on the part of my face that hurts. My headache/facial pain either goes away immediately, or at least it's manageable until it does go away! Of course, if this goes on for a few weeks, I do break down and call the doctor and go the prescription medical route. So far, I haven't had to take any prednisone and antibiotics for 14 months. Also of note: So that the caffiene is effective when I need it, I've cut soda pop from my diet. I'm not advocating my pain management program... I'm just checking to see if anyone else does the same or has some other home remedies?

Hi Carol. I just went through the desensitization with Dr.

son at Scripps but I'm not sure which yellow binder you're

referring to. The following is a link to the patient's guide that

Scripps puts out or I have a hard copy of Dr. son's research

paper that I can copy and mail to you if you'd like. (or you can

purchase it online, I believe.) I had a great experience with my

desensitization and would be happy to help you out if I can.
