Is this why my 4 yr old gets a sinus crisis after eating Taramosalata preserved with Benzoate?Or cant breathe after having a shower with Jhonsons preserved liquid soap?

or that she brushes her teeth with a tiny bit of added sodium benzoate,

Or that I get a profuse runny nose with this preservative in nasal sprays etc...?

>Toluene, the most popular industrial solvent,is converted by the liver into Benzoate,

which like aspirin must then be detoxified by congugation with the amino acid Glycine

(glycination):large doses of Glycine and N-glycylglycine are used in treating aspirin overdose.Benzoate itself is present in many food substances and is widely used as

>a food preservatives.

Are we talking about the same pathway for Aspirin and Benzoates?

Meanwhile it has been a reminder to check labels!

Also from the same article worth a mention,

Foods are converted into amino salicylic acid when ingested .

> Acetylation requires Pantothenic acid to function. It is the chief degradation pathway for

compounds containing aromatic amines such as histamine,serotonin,PABA,P-amino salicylic acid, aniline and procaine amide.<

B5 Pantothenic supplements might be worth it in our case who knows?

Good luck to all of us

Hi ,

MANY tanks for reference to the " Liver of the Matter " ! The failsafe

diet is a detox. Then one can test for salicylates, amines,

histamines etc found in foods (lists are available in the books as

advertised on the fedupwithfoodadditives.info website. (Reference to

all these found in your article) I have registered with the

failsafe3 support group (on the website) and could not believe the

many letters coming in daily of families on the diet and testing.

Every person sending in letters has his/her history of

allergies/asthma etc and symptoms of the rest of the family members.

Mostly from Australia and New Zealand. The research on the topic

also comes from the prince Albert Hospital in Australia. On the

website is also a list of all the illnesses people suffer as a

result of chemical overload! I will pass on your article as an

insight. Suprising how many doctors only want to prescribe more

chemicals to our already overloaded liver! As more salicylates are

added to fruit and vegetable production for healthier crops, no

wonder we are consuming even more and more variations of aspirin

without even knowing! (Will post the link to the website article

tommorow regarding samter's triad/salicylates)
