I wish I had some good pain management info, but am at a loss myself. I use prescription pain killers because that's all I can take. Watch the tylenol, as some of us samterities are extremely allergic to higher doses of it. I made two trips to the emergency room when I took two extra strength tylenol. Smaller doses made me itch all over.

Pain Management - home remedies?

Hello all. I've seen in this group what some of you do for managing pain. It's seems to revolve around prescription meds.I've had 5 sinus surgeries over 12 years... the MD doesn't want to do any more surgeries, he says that he's loosing the map in my head. Like many of you I cleanse the sinuses, but I've been using Alcolol and warm water... it seems to help. Along with a prescription nasal spray, daily claritin, and a 12 hour sudaphed. That's all about the nose - I also take advair and albuteral for the asthma.Unfortunately, occasionally I still get the facial pain and headaches. Since I HATE to be on Prednisone, and I am already sensitive to certain antibiotics...I've discovered that if I take a caffeine pill (yes, the stay awake over the counter stuff), along with rapid release acetaminophen and place an ICE pack on the part of my face that hurts. My headache/facial pain either goes away immediately, or at least it's manageable until it does go away! Of course, if this goes on for a few weeks, I do break down and call the doctor and go the prescription medical route. So far, I haven't had to take any prednisone and antibiotics for 14 months. Also of note: So that the caffiene is effective when I need it, I've cut soda pop from my diet. I'm not advocating my pain management program... I'm just checking to see if anyone else does the same or has some other home remedies?

I take aspirin-free

Excedrin which is basically what you are doing but all in 1 pill (caffeine +

Tylenol). I’ve noticed lately that a lot of my sinus headaches are

weather related and sometimes nothing but the front moving through does

anything for them. But the aspirin-free Excedrin does take the edge off even

the worst ones for me. I miss the real Excedrin though because that would

always knock out even the worst of my headaches before I became allergic to

aspirin! (I discovered said allergy from taking Excedrin…)
