Guest guest
, What medicines are you on? Some will cause itching and dry skin. I have a low grade itching all the time. Can you take antihistimines with an added decongestant? Some on the list can also tell you about their nasal/sinus rinse routines that can help with the congestion so you can get relief with antihistamines. Good luck, it's miserable! I ASKED MY DOC AND HE SAID JUST PART OF THE ALLERGIES BUT I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS EFFECT FROM THEM. I HAVE THOUGHT OF EVERYTHING THAT MIGHT BE CONTRIBUTING BUT CAN'T COME UP WITH ANYTHING THAT I HAVE BEEN DOING DIFFERENTLY. I AM NOT SUPPOSED TO TAKE ANY TYPE OF ANTIHISTAMINE BECAUSE OF HOW BAD IT THICKENS EVERYTHING IN MY SINUS CAVITY SO I AM UNABLE TO SLEEP AT NIGHT DUE TO CONSTANT SCRATCHING!!! HAS ANYONE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS???? ANY SUGGESTIONS????? Relax. virus scanning helps detect nasty viruses!
Guest guest
My meds are: Advair, Singular, Profen II, and Rhinocort. I irragate daily with saline solution. I have had to cheat a couple of times and take some Benadryl because there is just so long you can go without sleeping. But then I can really tell that I have taken it because the next couple of days I cannot even blow my nose. Re: HELP I CAN'T STOP ITCHING!!!! , What medicines are you on? Guest guest
Hi : I just wrote a couple of days ago about my odd reaction to Singulair. After taking Singulair for nearly 2 years it started to make my hands itch terribly whenever I took it. It wasn't like my skin was dried out. It was more red and inflamed or warm. It was mainly my fingers and palms. Hopefully this helps. Marcus
Guest guest
I (and others on this message board) have had the itching hands and sometimes feet as described by Marcus. I cannot put my finger on what causes it for me. At first it seemed to only happen when I was on Prednisone but I have had a couple of instances of the itching when I wasn't on prednisone. For me, I think it is just one way my body reacts to this dreaded disease. I think, basically, Samters is one big allergic "reaction" and just surfaces in different ways, i.e. asthma, polyps, itching hands, etc. Just my 2 cents. Guest guest
I have to take allergy medication every day (like Claritin). If I do not, after a couple of days, I wake up at night with itchy hands, arms, legs, and feet. Also happens when I get hot from the shower, exercising, etc. But the daily allergy medication helps a lot. Guest guest
: this is probably urticaria. I got a lot of relief fron this when I took Zyflo which also helped the polyps regrowth. Guest guest
I vote for thermal uticaria too. I remember itching after hot showers, jacuzzi's, or even holding a hot coffee mug would make my hand itch. This was four years before Samters and it just went away, I guess. Also, just letting the sun hit my skin for two long or directly caused an itch. Of course you probably thought of this, but did you switch laundry detergents or fabric softeners on your linen? Let us know if you find out anything. toniCarol <shedokdo@...> wrote: : this is probably urticaria. I got a lot of relief fron this when I took Zyflo which also helped the polyps regrowth. Guest guest
Thanks for all of the responses. I went to my pulmonologist today and was telling her about the itching and my concern over whether or not it could be a side effect of one of my meds. She mentioned Chaug Straus Syndrome??? She sent me to the lab for bloodwork and a urinalysis. Now I am scared too death. I hope that it is the thermal uticaria!!! She also decided that I needed to be put on a maintenance dose of 5mg of Prednisone and took me off Singular. I told her that I did not want to have to take Pred. every day indefinetly but she said that I would not have the side effects as badly on just 5 mg. Does anyone know if this is true? Guest guest
You will still have some side effects on 5 of Prednisone. Zyflo is quite effective for chronic urticaria and is NOT associated with Churg Strauss. Guest guest
I find that my ears and throat itch frequently especially after I eat or drink something. Sometimes it is almost unbearable. This occurs even though I take Zyrtec daily. I was also told that it was allergy.
