Glad the yoga and Zyflo is working for you! Lori
Guest guest
I do. Singulair 10 1x a day and Zyflo 4x a day. Have even discussed increasing Singulair dosage beyond the on-label 10mg a day, but as I am feeling very good at this time and given that my insurance company is likely to disapprove the cost, my doc and I have elected to stay at the 10mg for the moment. As I understand it, one reduces production the other uptake so the two should work well together. ie
Guest guest
I am taking zyflo and singulair together. I used that combination before with fairly good results, but I would still have severe reactions to things unknown (perfumes, foods, the air in my office) In 2003 I did asa desensitization with excellent results. Since then I was using irrigation, allegra, singulair, nasal and inhaled steroids with good results. This winter, I had another ( number 6or 7 )sinus surgery because of an obstructing polyp causing severe problems with sinusits. I did well but in March, I began to have problems with hearing loss and pain with persistent serous otitis. I used several course of steroids but the problem persisted. I tried adding zyflo again with excellent results. I am doing much better with restored hearing, and decreased tinnitus and rhinorrhea. I have continued the singulair and ASA as I have not had the sudden unexplained severe reactions. I suspect the mechanism is that I produce phenomenal amounts of leukotrienes and the ASA down regulates the production as does the zyflo ( a 5-lipooxygenase inhibitor) whereas singulair is a receptor blocker. Zyflo and ASA desensitization work on some of the leukotrienes that singulair does not effect. Note, I have bad allergies and asthma and have had problems since I was 3. I am now 60. Interestingly, my husband who is a pediatric endocrinologist was at a diabetes meeting heard a presentation about using a combination of an Angiotension Converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor combined with a receptor blocker in preventing renal disease in some severe diabetics and a higher response rate was seen. The use of zyflo and singulair would be analogous. I was also amazed at the price increase in zyflo since it was reintroduced. > > Did someone say that they took Singular and Zyflo together? > > -- [sPAM] Re: Re: New to the group and lost > > LOL, -- yes, it's leukotrienes. > > Glad the yoga and Zyflo is working for you! > > Lori
