I take 1300mg enteric aspirin once/day. Albuterol and Antihistamines as needed, astelin or Benedryll. I will take prednisone if I get into a slump.

I am on Flovent -sprayed in my nose- one spray in each nostril, once a day. It has worked wonders for me!!! I am one and one-half years post surgery and as of last week, have one lone polyp in the ethmoid sinuses.

Here's what I'm on: (by National Jewish)

Aspirin - 325 twice a day

Singulair - 10 mg.

Spiriva Inhaler

Serevent Inhaler

Qvar Inhaler

Xolair Injection - Once a month

Supposed to be taking Zyflo, but I can't remember to take it 4 times

per day, so I don't take it at all. Also supposed to be taking

something for reflux (can't remember what), but I don't take that

either.

Peak flows are usually about 500.

Spiriva has made a big difference for me. Xolair has also worked

well (I have allergic asthma as well as the samters kind of asthma)

so I can walk outside on high pollen days and also visit people with

cats & dogs, with no asthma problems.

My sense of smell came back about 18 months ago. Before that I

hadn't had a SOS in about 20 years, except when I was on medrol. I

think singulair had something to do with it, in addition to having

my polyps yanked out in the office. I have never had the major sinus

surgery that Dr's have been telling me to have for the past 20

years. As far as I know, polyps haven't returned since the Jan. 05

yanking. I was not on Xolair at the time my SOS returned.

I was a music major in college - Voice major. I always had a hard

time singing in head voice, probably because I had issues with my

sinuses, but wasn't aware of it. When my asthma is really acting

up, I can't sing because I get dizzy. It's also too hard to get air

out and in again fast enough to sing. When my asthma is ok, I can

sing.

I'm on Zyflo Singulair Xopenex (when needed) Ipratropium Bromide (when needed) Albuterol (when needed) Zyflo seems to work the best, but really nothing is helping eliminate the asthma completely. I do have a severe sinus infection which is contributing. Michele Saidel <scott_saidel@...> wrote: Thought this might be interesting. What medications and treatment protocals are people using

Hello all,

I'm on

Advair 250/50 2x a day

Pulmicort capsules....

I used to take Rhinocort & Allegra (legacy from when they thought I

had allergies), but my new doctor said the Rhinocort doesn't do much

to the polyps because it can't " get up there " . So he prescribed me

these Pulmicort capsules, which are for children with asthma but are

basically just a higher dosage of Rhinocort. I pour them in each

nostril once a day with my head upside down so it gets to the polyps.

It really works very well, almost as good as being on prednisone. But

it seems like a practice that he just thought of and is prescribing

without research being done on this particular treatment. Anyone else

ever heard of this?

Yes we have heard of it. There is another member that mixes the capsules with her irrigation solution. She is really happy with it. You are lucky to have a doctor who will search for alternative therapies. Keep it up if it works.

Hi , I did try this... mixed it with my nasal irrigation... it really didn't work for me, only because I think my sinus infection was so severe. But my allergist said he had success with it with other patients. Michele" W. s" <peteste@...> wrote: Hello all,I'm on Advair 250/50 2x a dayPulmicort capsules....
