Guest guest
Hey Lori, it's so great to hear that it's working for you. I agree with your perspective -- you can get results without drugs and their risks and their side effects, and without also without cutting. My ENT assures me that one can flush as often as one wants, without any negative effects. With respect to the gagging and swallowing: for me, it is sometimes necessary to cough and clear the throat -- in general I have a lot of the flow coming out of the mouth, in addition to the exit nostril. I don't think I ever swallow much. Karl has said that it's a function of how you hold your tongue. Perhaps as you get more comefortable with the process, the gagging will ease off. I don't have the salty itchy throat thing. I use 1 teaspoon of salt in the reservoir of the WaterPik. I can taste the salt, but it is not irritating or nauseating. I always gargle with hot water at the end of the session to clear the throat of any remaining mucous that might be left there from the irrigtion. Perhaps that would also help your itchy throat. Of course, my last comment is to hope that you will keep at it. Improvement will continue. For others in this group: most of you know that Lori has very strong credentials here. Her endorsement here, along with Karl's earlier analysis, eg. http://personal.ecu.edu/wuenschk/Nasal-Irrigation.htm should be taken seriously by anyone who wants to breathe better. -- Ken West Check the library . . . samters/links > From: " truelori " <lori@...> > Reply-samters > Date: Sat, 04 Feb 2006 22:45:32 -0000 > samters > Subject: a beautiful thing > > well, I am definitely a convert to TRUE sinus irrigation. Guest guest
Lori: I don't know if this will help you yet-. ( after a while it will become automatic)but put the back of your tongue up against your palate when your irrigate. After you irrigate a while you won't even think about it- you will do it really fast and it will just make your sinuses feel a lot better. BTW- the irrigator tip is just supposed to go against your nasal opening not in it. Carol I don't know what is up with USPS this week that is one of three orders that was REALLY slow. a beautiful thing > well, I am definitely a convert to TRUE sinus irrigation. Guest guest
Lori- I'm getting into this a bit late. What adaptor did Carol send to you? Is it for a waterpik? Where can I buy it? Also, what waterpik is everyone using. Thanks, I'm willing to anything just to get off of this predisone. Sinus irrigation has developed replaced aspirin desensitization at the top of my list of most effective things you can do for this disease. The reason sinus irrigation is above aspirin desense for me now is that it doesn't have side effects. Although I do have ONE kind of side effect and I want to know how you all keep from getting nauseous or vomiting. No matter what position I do this in, I still get a lot that gets swallowed. It comes down the back of my throat. The salt water is also very irritating to my throat and makes me have that itchy throat feeling where I want to "scratch" the back of my throat. It makes me gag and also a couple of times when I could not help but swallow a lot I felt very nauseous like I would vomit. The nasal adaptor works GREAT. You all knew that already, but for anyone that tries this, definitely get the nasal adaptor. I was able to use it in the blocked nostril and actually get water to come out the other nostril. This made me a very happy camper! "Louie, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." Lori
Guest guest
Hi Rex, yes, it is an adaptor for the Water Pik, and you can buy it on her web site, which I believe is naturalsinushealth.com If you have a Water Pik, you need the original sinus adaptor or something like that. Good luck. Lori > > > well, I am definitely a convert to TRUE sinus irrigation. I got my > > adaptor today from Carol and it works great! Guest guest
Carol, if the irrigator tip is not in the nostril, how do you seal it off so the water doesn't come back out? I think you or someone else mentioned it seals it off. I think I'm not really sure what you mean when you say to put my tongue up against the back of my palate. If I put my whole tongue against my palate that seems like I'm swallowing. If I put the tip that doesn't make sense -- so I'm not sure what is it you're saying or should do -- what's the purpose of it? Thanks for your help! Guest guest
Rex : The adaptor is for the 'Original Sinus Adaptor'- I sell them on my site www.naturalsinushealth.com . I have Samter's and another type of autoimmune disease that involves the sinuses and have been a long time irrigator. I believe in my products. Guest guest
its probably cheaper to buy the water pik locally and order the adaptor from carol. i paid 40 bucks for my water pik at bed bath and beyond and i think carol wants $18.95 for the sinus adaptor. believe me, you have to have the adaptor. i tried doing it with the regular pik and made a bloody mess out of my nose which took a couple of days to heal. > > > >> well, I am definitely a convert to TRUE sinus irrigation. Guest guest
dont try to look at yourself in the mirror while irrigating. face the bottom of the sink. this will keep the water out of your throat. i tryed the pallate thing but sometimes that can force water into your eustachion tubes. > > well, I am definitely a convert to TRUE sinus irrigation. Guest guest
Hi Lori, I've been reading the posts on the irrigator subject. I have one question for you or anyone who'd like to reply: Does this ever cause inflamation in the snout from aggitation? Thanks Tami a beautiful thing well, I am definitely a convert to TRUE sinus irrigation. I got my adaptor today from Carol and it works great!
