Guest guest
Dear Val, I am also 2 months out of major sinus surgery for removal of polyps. I now have more polyps than I did before after doing everything exactly as I was told to do. I currently have a staph infection that won't go away. I am on my third type pf antibiotic because I keep developing very itch rashes that they think is caused by the medicine (all of them?). I am also taking prednisone. I am starting to think that the use of steroids to treat this problem creates a vicious cycle that leaves me constantly susceptible to infection, which results in swelling and polyps....have I been here before? I'd like to stop this ride cause I want to get off now!! As far as I can tell the spray steroids don't do much for me but it seems to be the number one thing I am told to use and if it is not working use more....... I don't get it! Well I have another Dr. appointment Thurs. Good luck to you at yours! Re: Curious .... Hi, Well i am 2 months post op. and my body won't heal. Has this ever happened to any one else? I have tried every thing. steroids, the nasal antibiotics, irrigating, and rest. What else can i do? I almost want to be admitted and just given a high dose of antibiotics. I go to the doctor on Monday. I have a terrible chest thing going on definitely infected. Any input will help. thank you all ~val~ ____________________________________________________ IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here

Guest guest
I'm also currently taking Prednisone everyday to combat the symptoms. I'm currently getting over a very bad infection also. What other side effects are you having by taking Prednisone? Here is my list 1. Weight gain (Almost 50 pounds) 2. Prone to infections 3. Short tempered 4. Some lower abdominal pain. I'm hoping to go through the Aspirin Desensitization soon, to get off of the Prednisone. -Rex From: Drew and [mailto:anmcarter@...] Sent: Saturday, March 13, 2004 10:34 AMsamters Subject: Re: Curious .... Guest guest
Hi Val I don't know if this will help but I guess it's worth a try. I have read recently that pyridoxal 5 phosphate (P5P), which is the active form of vitamin B6, helps to heal mucous membranes. This next bit isn't mean't for you personally but if a person were to have a candida problem then it would block the conversion of B6 to P5P. Hope you find an answer soon. Guest guest
What's the verdict with vitamin C? I used to take Ester C powder but cut it in half, and down to none lately, when I read that it uses the same pathways as salicylates to exit our bodies. Since I cut back the vitamin c I can't notice any change, except maybe right now I feeling worse by having sinus pain above my eyes and around my left eye especially, which I've never experienced in 39 years of Samters. Guest guest
Nutro Ester C has salicylates in it - oranges and tangerines so you might find it an issue for you. Allergy C may be better. But I have really found it to help me so much. I don't have any salicylates except for the ones I've been treated. I'd say if you feel better on the ester c take it and if you feel worse back off.
