TITLE: Social Marketing for HIV/AIDS Prevention in Asia – 2001-2002

PURPOSE: PSI has been granted funding from the UK’s Department for nternational

Development (DFID), Asia Regional Poverty Fund, to strengthen the contribution

of social marketing to HIV/AIDS control in Asia.

PSI seeks sub-project proposals from eligible social marketing organizations

(SMOs) in Asia to: a) scale-up effective responses to HIV/AIDS, including

targeting of high risk behaviours; test new and innovative HIV/AIDS

prevention products and services; c) increase the impact of HIV/AIDS

interventions through better monitoring and evaluation; and/or d) build the

capacity of Asia SMOs.

All proposed sub-project activities must be completed, and final report

submitted, by 31 December 2002.

ELIGIBILITY: SMOs in Asian countries that do not have DFID bilateral

programmes are eligible to apply. (NOTE: Applications from countries with DFID

bilateral programmes will be considered only if they include written approval

from the DFID country office.)

FUNDING LEVEL: GBP 70,000 – 200,000 (USD 100,000 – 300,000) per project.

PROCEDURES: Interested SMOs should complete the attached funding request (not

to exceed 10 pages) along with a logical framework and budget (see attached

models). All proposals will be reviewed, and final funding decisions made, by a

committee comprised of five senior Asia program staff at PSI-Asia (Bangkok),

PSI-Europe (London), and PSI-Washington.

Awards will be announced on or before 10 December 2001. Funds will be disbursed

on or before 20 December 2001, unless otherwise agreed with recipients.

DEADLINE: All proposals must be received by PSI Asia (contact data above)

before Friday, 30 November 2001.
