Guest guest
Has anyone used the SinuPulse nasal irrigator? I'm wondering how it compares to the Grossan Hydropulse. I need to replace my Grossan as it died and I have read they don't tend to last long, so I was thinking of trying the SinuPulse instead. Looks like the reservior is bigger, which would be nice. I have a WaterPik but liked the Grossan a lot better than using a WaterPik. K.
Guest guest
I use the SinuPulse nasal irrigator, but I haven’t used any other brands, so I don’t have a basis of comparison. It does have a fairly substantial reservoir, it pulses the water as it exits the nozzle, and you can control the volume or speed of the water. It is fairly loud, but you can always close the bathroom door. I’ve had it about a year, and I’ve noticed that it’s gotten harder to put the clear plastic reservoir back on after I clean it. There is a little plastic piece that fits at the drain of the reservoir. I always take it out when I wash the reservoir (about once a week). The way that the reservoir fits back on the device, the little piece and drain need to fit perfectly onto the base. It never leaks, but if you don’t press it down securely enough, it doesn’t properly siphon the water into the device. I’ve always been able to do so, but sometimes it’s take work to get it to fit in correctly. I don’t think that this is a deal breaker for this device. So, I like it overall, and it seems to be very well made and reliable. I bought it from Amazon, and the price was reasonable. That’s my analysis. –Phil M. Guest guest
I use the Nasoneb Nasal Nebulizer (www.nasoneb.com) which can dispense up to 4 meds in a single 2 minute session. I have had tremendous success with this machine. SOS has returned and polyps have almost completely resolved. My compounding pharmacy in Toronto worked with ASL pharmacy in California to work out the meds along with my ENT. Regards, Kent
Guest guest
But this thing is not for everyone. I have one and it gives me issues. Because the little "sprayers" are so close together if one side is going up properly, the other is spraying against the septum. After a couple of rounds I start getting nose bleeds. I talked with their tech support and we did everything we could to make it work for me. I ended up blocking one tube and doing one side at a time. Guest guest
Hi Crusher, I read your earlier post on this machine. Sorry to hear you have had difficulties with it. It sounds to me as though you are trying to insert the spray nozzles into the nose which I'm sure their customer service team should have recommended against. The nozzles don't even touch the skin but rather spray the mist upward into the cavity. You gently inhale through the sinuses during the treatment and expel the meds through the mouth. Try lowering the dispensing unit slightly. ASL and/or Medinvent needs to post some additional videos on the various techniques and use of the Nasoneb. Perhaps you should talk with Medinvent the manufacturer directly. The CEO is Bill Flickinger and he can be reached at 1-866-960-9833. Maybe they can come up with a customized solution for you. If enough people need a larger dispensing chamber maybe they will offer them. Regards, Kent
Guest guest
I have a question.... I am putting budesonide in my neti pots for nasal rinses.... could I just put it in my nebulizer and gently breath in some of the mist and exhale through my mouth instead of the rinses??Input? Guest guest
Hi Kent, Yes I was on the phone with them several times trying to solve the problem. I think I'm pretty savvy when it comes to this kind of thing but I still can't get it to spray up both sides no matter how close or far I put the thing. It ends up blasting the septum on one side or the other. That eventually causes bleeding. Like I said, I ended up blocking one of the barrels and doing one side at a time, when seems to work just fine. However, I still get better results putting the solution directly up the nose with my head hanging over the bedside. Takes about 2 minutes and a little self control because it feels like you may be getting ready to drown, but it really sooths and shrinks things back. Guest guest
Hi , Yes you can. The Pulmicort Nebules/Budesonide (2ml) can be used in the Nasoneb with 10ml of sterile saline. I confirmed this with ASL Pharmacy just this week. I used to add one Pulmicort nebule into a single Neil Med bottle with distilled water but it didn't have any significant impact. The concentration and method of delivery appear to be what makes the nebulizer treatment a better one. Naturally you should check all this with your doctor first.
