mould in lungs and asthma

My interest in this article involves the narrowing of airways and the decreased

branching that can occur in asthma.

Years ago I saw a show that showed the cast (ie after death latex was pumped

into the airway ,acid disolved the tissue and all that remained was the latex

cast of the airway) of the lungs of a severe asthmatic. There were only the

major trunks or branches left (the Alveoli and the smaller branches were

destroyed thru a remodeling process). So better to treat the inflammatory or

remdeling proces.

Also a common mould associated with soil and compost is discussed. What is the

relevance to this and hypersensitivity to moulds?

I think we had better avoid extensive gardenworks, toiling around with soil with

a lot of particulate mater in suspension in the air, etc as soil is very rich in

molds and bacteria and this may contribute to airways infection.
